Hey all, I received my NROTC 4 year scholarship back in January and began my qualification process recently. Just today I was informed that I was disqualified with a pending waiver for esotropia/strabismus. This is really confusing to me because I had exotropia(which is different from esotropia) when I was 5, but had two corrective eye surgeries and my vision has been 20/20 since. Should I call about this or just wait for the letter to come in ? Thanks for any help

You could have been DQ because of a "history of" allowing the commissioning source to make a determination via waiver. Did you have a remedial?

You could call, and to get more information on what your eye exam said and/or to find out if it is for a current condition or because of your history. (Be warned if you are a current midshipman, work through your chain of command before you call)

Strabismus would cover your exotropia as strabismus is the term for any eye misalignment.

Yes I did have a status of "remedial requested" right before it switched to disqualified. Does this mean the wavier process is more feasible for this specific disqualification?

It just means you were given the chance to supply the records so they have all the information to make a well informed waiver decision.
