Hey all so I was on prozac during my junior year of high school. I am now a senior who received the 4 year army scholarship and am now awaiting a decision on my NROTC Nursing scholarship application. I am attempting to figure out how challenging it is to get a waiver. I have been off since late June and have had no problems at all and I have medical record from the PNP who prescribed the medication. I don't think I was actually clinically depressed but my physician and parents wanted to put me on it anyway. I was having a hard time with these kids at school but I got through it and was fine so I got off. I'm just trying to figure out how hard it is to get a waiver since I was on meds. I was seeing a counselor for 6 months before medication and stopped after I started my medication and I haven't been back since. I was on the meds a little over a year before being off for the last 9 months.

Comply with the FAST sticky under the DoDMERB tab in SA Forums😁

Comply with the FAST stick under the DoDMERB tab if you want an informed response😁

Moderator note: I merged these two identical threads. It is only necessary to post something once on the forum.

Look in the “Stickies” which are the threads pinned to the top of the DoDMERB forum. Read the one titled FAST. Follow the directions in that post.

No problem with the posting. Welcome to the forums.

Great thank you so much! Do I have to send an email and if so, is that information considered at all in my consideration for DoDMERB? Or do I just post my question in the comments?

Send an email with the information requested by Mr. Mullen in that post. He will be able to answer you directly via email.

Thank you. Do you know if the information in my email is linked at all to my official application or the official review of my medical history?

It may be (I don't really know) but only to the extent that Mr Mullen can look into your case and render assistance

@christianathlete413 - I think what @kinnem is saying is that Mr. Mullen is the best and only source of official DoDMERB related advice on this forum. Follow the instructions in the FAST sticky and start an offline discussion with Mr. Mullen. Everything else is just pure speculation.

Thank you! I'm just attempting to figure out if anyone knows if inquiries I make via the email provided in the sticky are official inquiries and will be referred to in making a decision on my eligibility or getting a waiver since I have to provide my name and last 4 of my SSN

Understood. Mr. Mullen is the ONLY person on this forum who can answer that question. The reason why he has set up a different email address is so he can help the candidates at the personal level. One more time, I suggest you send Mr. Mullen an email per the directions in the FAST sticky. He needs the information (SS# and other stuff) so he can access your information and get the correct advice for you.

OP, one thing to keep in mind is that your medical history will have to be disclosed when you have your medical exam. You will need to read each question and answer it honestly. IOW, you will not be able to avoid disclosing that you used Prozac.

I think you are trying to find out info about this anonymously without emailing Mr Mullen (and risk having your inquiry associated with your application). But what I’m proposing is that your info WILL be on your record because you will need to disclose it when you fill out your medical questionnaire.

I do believe people have gotten waivers and reported that here for things such as anxiety/depression. I don’t know if they used meds or not. Nor do I know their particular situation. You can search these forums to find them.

Mr Mullen is the man to ask about all things DoDMRB. Following the instructions on the FAST sticky will get you best info. Don’t know if it will become part of your file, but I don’t think that matters bc your record should contain the info anyhow from you disclosing it on your medical questionnaire
