Today I checked the DODMERB website and it says "waiver approved" for an AROTC scholarship. A while back I inquired with Mr. Mullen about my chances of getting a waiver, and he said it would be "extremely unlikely" but that I should give it a shot anyhow. I just want to say thanks to Mr. Mullen for that advice; I hope this is encouraging for anyone else who thinks their military ambitions will stop at DODMERB, because for the past 4 years that's what I thought.

My advice to others: as soon as you get your disqualification letter, go get letters from people to send in. I sent letters from two coaches, my surgeon, and my primary care physician, all saying that I am physically fit for the military. Actually, I knew I was going to get DQ'd all along so I had a couple of those letters beforehand. My point is, be expedient.

FYI: I was DQ'd for "congenital malformations of the nervous system, including history of..." which required spinal surgery to correct.

Good luck everyone!
