Waiver Granted

Great outcome. I know it has been a long wait, with multiple requests for the same information. Do you have any insight for others going through the process. Other than be patient.

The DoDMERB technician was an excellent resource. Do not hesitate to contact them with questions and ask for clarifications and advice.
While they have to operate by the book my son's technician made a variety of suggestions for additional information that could be provided while staying with in the scope of the request. It is possible to provide too much information. Sending the waiver authority information they have not requested may not be in the best interest of someone seeking a waiver. It is like dealing with a lawyer; listen to the question, answer the question.
As I have stated on this forum before, as an ROTC scholarship recipient you have already been selected. It is in whichever services' interest to keep you. If they can waive you they will. This is something we heard from both the DoDMERB technician and my son's AROTC ROO. The ROO told my son "Don't sweat it. Proceed as if." That's what he did, he showed up at his SMC ready to work. He has a 3.7 GPA and a 288 APFT. He is focused on his goal of commissioning in the Army.

Update
My son has found out that while his waiver was still pending he was on the list his AROTC unit sent in for upgrades to 3.5 year.
As the waiver had not come through at that point he did not receive the upgrade.

After 9 months my son's AROTC waiver has been granted.
I have checked his status (for the 1,000,00th time) and there it was.
Congratulations! The agonizing wait if finally over!!

Your hard working, high achieving son cannot seem to catch a break. Any way to fix it?

They said "maybe". And that if anymore upgrades come up they will put him up for it.

Hoping for good news! You've raised a resilient son. That's a positive trait for life. :)

The timing could not have been worse.
He found out upon arrival back after Christmas break.
He is at an SMC so he was in no hurry to get back.
Said goodbye to the girlfriend and when he got back found out his roommate had received an upgrade.
It was not until the next day that he found out what had happened.
He was (is) disheartened (his word for it) by the whole thing.

Thank you for the encouragement. Our Roller coaster ride just started with a DQ for Asthma and now status changed to Waiver Requested ( I think). We are headed out there (USMA) for the overnight Visit soon and DS has LOA and NOM in hand. Please wish us Luck! I know there are no Guarantees.

Best wishes to you. Waiver timeframes are unpredictable. Received one for allergy issues after about 4-6 weeks.

Waited for request but had RAST tests done prior and ready to go as soon as requested along with allergists notes
