The DoDMERB technician was an excellent resource. Do not hesitate to contact them with questions and ask for clarifications and advice.
While they have to operate by the book my son's technician made a variety of suggestions for additional information that could be provided while staying with in the scope of the request. It is possible to provide too much information. Sending the waiver authority information they have not requested may not be in the best interest of someone seeking a waiver. It is like dealing with a lawyer; listen to the question, answer the question.
As I have stated on this forum before, as an ROTC scholarship recipient you have already been selected. It is in whichever services' interest to keep you. If they can waive you they will. This is something we heard from both the DoDMERB technician and my son's AROTC ROO. The ROO told my son "Don't sweat it. Proceed as if." That's what he did, he showed up at his SMC ready to work. He has a 3.7 GPA and a 288 APFT. He is focused on his goal of commissioning in the Army.
