I am requesting insight into a strange situation after having conducted my general medical exam today.

First, off, I am enlisted in the military. I have gone through MEPS before and have also passed a flight physical exam with flying colors. With that in mind, I went to a civilian doctor for my medical exam. Everything seemed to go well, but I have a few worries, and would like to ask if anyone might have insight into the situation.

Before taking my weight, they asked me my height. So I replied 6 ft. Then they took my weight with my entire uniform on with boots on and stuff in my pockets. It came out to 190lbs. While this is an acceptable standard for my branch of service enlisted, it is not an acceptable standard for admission into an academy such as U.S. Air Force Academy.

Question 1: Will this be the cause of a remedial case, or a disqualifier? And if so, how can I potentially remedy this as soon as possible?

Next, they performed a hearing test on me. I thought I was doing okay since there was a range of tones that I could hear. But then I saw mostly number "5's" and also one "10" as hearing results instead of "0's" (which as I understand it to be, "0's" indicate normal hearing). Seeing as though my hearing may not be normal, I was alarmed at first. But then I also realized that I probably could have done better if I had cleaned out my ears prior to the hearing test.

Question 2: Are my results abnormal in a negative way? If so, is it so much that it could be a disqualifier? If so, how can I deal with this? I do not believe that I have a hearing issue, and even if I did, it doesn't get in the way at all of me performing flight duties.

Question 3: Does anyone have experience with waivers being given for these issues for any service academy? Are some service academies more lenient on these factors than others when issuing waivers?

I apologize for the long post in advance. Any help or insight on prior experience and what to do next is greatly appreciated.

In regards to hearing, normal is a range. Any number between -10 and 25 is considered normal. So your hearing falls within the normal range and what is needed for the academies. I have no insight on your other questions.

Making decisions on a public website without verified results is I’ll advised at best, so I await your email...
