Hello All-

I am applying to USAFA, USMA, and USNA, and have been disqualified from all three for having "eczema past 12 years old." I was granted a waiver very quickly from USMA and USNA, but USAFA is taking much longer. It says on my DoDMERB that I am still "under waiver review." Upon speaking with my USAFA admissions, they told me that USAFA will only seek a medical waiver if I am BOTH competitive for an appointment and have a nomination.

I was granted my waivers from USMA and USNA without having a nomination. I had not heard from anyone about this difference in granting waivers. If you could provide some validation or past experience in which this happened with USAFA, please let me know. Thank you!

Different Services, different academies, different missions, different waiver policies, different ways of running Admissions processes. What may be waiverable by one may not be by another per Service policy rooted in mission/gear/operating environments, or there may be a max number of quotas a year. USAFA quite likely has its own approach.

As you are learning throughout this process, much is beyond your control. Focus on what you can impact - an important life skill.

Hang in there!
