I had a waiver request about a month ago for USMA and USNA, but I have not received any remedial request. Is this a good or bad sign, or have they not started to process my waiver yet?

Can't speak to USNA, but if a waiver has been initiated at USMA, your portal will change to "Waiver Requested", "Under Medical Review". If it does not say that or something similar, then no waiver has been initiated. DoDMERB will only show "Pending Waiver Submission/Review" which means they have notified the academy of you being DQ'd and for what. No change in DoDMERB until the waiver is complete and either approved or not approved. FYI, at least at USMA waivers can take anywhere from 14 days to more than 90 days depending on the issue(s). I have read here that if have an LOA, sometimes they will even request you go to WP for a full medical evaluation, other times that is not necessary.

I know the waiver is initiated, but I heard that they usually ask for remedials when doing waivers?

As @A1Janitor said...it all depends on the DQ Code. Remedials are usually handled during the "Remedial" process and prior to a DQ being issued, hence the term "Remedial Code". If in a "Waiver Initiated" status then the medical staff at the particular academy is in the process of reviewing your file. They will let you know if they need anything. The waiver time frame in unpredictable, and runs from 2 weeks to over 9 months (at least that is what you will find on these forums if you read the different "waiver" threads). May I ask, do you have an LOA?

No I do not
Also I was DQed for cystic acne that has never been a problem (they asked if it had during the remedial process) and even got a doctors note saying it should not be a problem.

I would think (I am not a dermatologist) that acne, as long as it does not interfere with wearing any type of clothing, or carrying loads, or proper grooming, should be waiver eligible. If you had an LOA you would be in better shape than not having the LOA because they would holding a spot for you. That being said, almost everyone on here "waiting" is in the same boat as you, waiver or no waiver needed. Admissions is working to clear waivers, fix CFA problems, and make determinations as to whether WP or USMAPS is appropriate. Try not to stress, it will only make the wait more difficult and stress your parents along with you. Just remember, you are pretty much in the same boat as I don't know maybe 600 other people who will get that BFE. Keep your Plan B working (just in case) and don't stress out, there will be plenty of time for that after you get appointed. GOOD LUCK!!!

Waiver remedials depend on the DQ for me personally USMA specifically asked, for doctors files relating to the DQ. West point initiating the waiver means a lot because some candidates don't even get that far. Keep pushing and good luck on your journey!
