Hello everyone. I'm applying to USMA and USNA 2021. Everything's done except for the CFA and waiver (currently waiting on a DQ). I tore my ACL last March and am working diligently to take the CFA next week. Although I couldn't attend NASS or Girls State because it was after surgery, I attended SLE and loved it; I heard things from my sibling and have researched service academies for 2 years, but I truly enjoyed staying there myself. BGO helped me decide to apply to USNA too. I'm not 'fully cleared' until March which is when I'll send the note to DODMERB. That's my worry: being too late. I've seen on here that most appt's are given in late Jan-Feb, and waivers depend. I have my backup school, but if I go there I am reapplying for sure. Do you all think trying to get a waiver in March is too late since most acceptances are already given out by then and the waiver takes weeks to process? The wait to be 3Q is a long road for me and day by day I tell myself that it will all be OK, but I don't know how much longer I can keep telling myself that. Any advice/words of encouragement is greatly appreciated.

FWIW...My 2019 DS (also attended SLE) also required a medical waiver which he did not receive till late February which was excruciating! I know this is easy for me to say but focus on what you can control, stay positive, put your energy into your studies and stay strong. The waiting especially at this point in the process is absolutely the worst!

Thank you so much @JWP for the boost. People at my school have never even heard of West Point (sad, just sad..) so I have a hard time discussing the waiver anxiety to anyone. On a good note, I'm studying APUSH to validate at least one course in case I do get in. I'm glad your son's outcome was a good one in the end. My brother is actually 2019 as well! How has WP been for him so far?

u wanna check on that apush validation. last time i checked only ap world got full history core validation.

@luckydoggy1234
"Also an AP score of 5 in European, US, or World History is necessary to proceed to validation."
This is what it says on West Point's site, but it may not have updated if there was a change. Thank you for the heads up, I'll do some more research!

Don't stress over it. It will not affect your chances. There was a young woman @HassamaMama who got a conditional appointment in February and was appointed June 9. Search here saga. She had to work through multiple waivers. It will make your ACL DoDMERB journey like a walk in the park. Enjoy your senior year.

Agree with 5Day, though @HassamaMama is a he.

Hang in there and best of luck!!!

You're right 5Day, it doesn't help to stress. I read up on his story and although I don't have an LOA like he did, it is still very much an inspiration. Thank you for sharing @5Day and @ktnatalk. I will stay strong until I hear from the SA's.

If there is an issue with your waiver/recovery time and you are otherwise a strong candidate they may recommend a prep school year or MAPS to see how your knee recovers.
