Waiver Timeframe?

Mr. Mullen I just emailed you as requested above. Sorry I didn't do it earlier, I got home from work pretty late last night.

I am in AFROTC (3rd year, AS500) so i only have until PSP packets get sent up in february to get a waiver. as of today I am under waiver review, for eating disorder/anxiety. I have never been medicated or hospitalized, it was a diagnosis that I believe shouldn’t exist. It was super blown out of proportion and my mom seemed to be dead-set on having me diagnosed.
I’ve sent up everything that I can already, I have gotten doctors letters clearing me, psych evaluation, I don’t know what else to do.

Is there anything I can do to help expedite the process? I don’t have 3 months to wait, especially considering I will probably need to appeal the waiver decision.

My DS has THREE marks for review and the waiver process seems to be a bit confusing. Looks like he will be denied. Is there a good way to expedite the process? or a link to review what needs to be done to secure a waiver? DS has a conditional appt to prep school via NAPS to attend GCA.

MOM/DAD: Google "DoDMERB;" Hit "Questions on the process;" Read paragraph #4.

DS should read paragraphs 11-12, 15-21.

The USNA controls the medical waiver process...not DoDMERB.:wiggle:

Dear Mr. Mullen,

We were referred to you as my daughter a freshman Navy ROTC at Carnegie Mellon has still not received a waiver for her scholarship. She has been asked to submit additional information 4 times, which she has done thoughtfully and COMPLETELY. Doctors notes, etc. Each time they come back with something additional. We had to pay her tuition and lost the scholarship she had been offered because she had the Navvy Scholarship. Now they said they want additional information and we just are at a loss. Can you suggest what we do now?

Mary and Paul Frederick

Mr. Mullen,
I've been reading the forum for a while but this is my first time posting a question. My medical status has been under waiver review for a over a month, USNA / D155.41 Distant visual acuity not correctable to 20/20 in each eye. Are my hopes of receiving a waiver achievable or should I move on?

*****maryafrederick23***** - As of 22 Dec, I have yet to receive an email from your daughter following the instructions above and in my search capabilities, I'll assume she has a different last name because I came up with Zilch! I can't help, if I don't know who we're talking about, which is why I answered the way I did above.:wiggle:

DS received USMA waiver request on November 19th. DS also received an LOE, which really means nothing, IMO (and did a site visit to USMA from the LOE). All documentation originally requested by DODMERB was sent prior to DQ status on November 11th. Next documents related to waiver request from USMA said DODMERB will contact DS for additional information, if needed? Should DS contact Mr. Mullen or continue to wait for updates from DODMERB and/or USMA?

Mainly just wondering how to help answer and guide DS’s questions about the waiting status? Don’t want to tell him to ripple the waters contacting individuals like Mr Mullen or USMA until necessary. It has only been only a little over a month and roughly two weeks of this wait has been over the holidays. I’m suggesting DS to wait until February 1st before deciding to contact anyone and just be patient.

Others experience in this waiver journey, your thoughts???

GENERAL ANSWER: "If" the waiver auth @ WP wants something, they will tell DoDMERB electronically and we will post the request to DS DoDMERB website. DS should Google “DoDMERB;” Hit “Questions on the process;” and read paragraphs 11-12; 15-21

Mom/Dad = Pls Google “DoDMERB;” Hit “Questions on the process;” Read paragraph #4

I have been medically DQ'd by DoDMERB because of my scoliosis; however, the radiologist initially had a transcription error so my doctor requested an addendum to correct the transcription error. Given that my curvature is within the requirements of 30 degrees for DoDMERB, do you know my chances of getting a waiver if I have already been accepted to the Coast Guard Academy (waiver requested by them on 12/30/21)? I have maintained an active lifestyle without pain or physical limitations throughout high school--varsity track, cross country, skiing, swimming, AIM, etc. Also, now that I am in waiver review, would it be worthwhile to send a CD of my x-rays to DoDMERB or should it go to someone at the CGA?
Thanks in advance for any insight that you can provide!
