My son was medically disqualified on December 9 due to a dislocated patella. DODMERB status says under waiver review but portal status still says disqualified. He has emailed his RC twice to explain the situation but hasn’t heard anything. Is there anything else he can do or do we all just need to be patient and wait? BTW his knee is completely fine. Continued to play two weeks after it happened. Has not had any issues since he did it. We just don’t want to miss doing something on our end. Thank you.

Hit “Questions about the process.”
Son needs to meet criteria in paragraphs 11-12....if he does, then 15-19,21 apply

AND

comply with the FAST sticky under the DoDMERB tab in the Forums

Thank you. He has met requirements and I’m pretty sure he has communicated with his RC via a thread. We will continue to wait patiently.

FWIW, DS was dq for a sports injury 4 years ago. A competitive athlete with no negative side effects after recovery. DQ' came in November, USMA informed him by letter that his file would go through waiver process 1st of December. He received his waiver 1st of February.

Ok. Did you have to do anything for the waiver or did you just wait to hear from USMA?

My DD was dq’d initially as well. She did everything dodmerb asked for and uploaded it as soon as she could. After that, she had to wait for USMA to initiate the waiver process.

my DD just had her waiver granted for the same issue, hers required surgery however. Hopefully soon you'll hear something

That is really encouraging. Thank you for responding. Best of luck to your DD.
I don’t know if it helped however we sent over medical records from the surgeon before the waiver was requested. Two weeks later they requested it and now it’s approved. I don’t know if it was just good timing or if sending over the records helped. If you haven’t gathered that info yet it would be wise to.

DS contacted his RC to show initiative for his desire to serve and inquire about his competitiveness. His RC replied after a day or so that he would put his file in for a waiver. It is my understanding for USMA that the RC's decide this. After they initiate the waiver process it is out their hands. He received a letter in his portal notifying him of the official decision for his medical status to undergo a medical review.

Immediately after the DQ my son emailed his RC and we haven’t heard back from him. He had been in contact with him about other things so that is why we are worried. No response is making us wonder. We have sent all the information we have when it was a remedial. There’s nothing else we can send except maybe a doctors note saying he is fit and fine as far as the knee is concerned. Any advice is helpful.
