Applying to several academies and ROTC knowing a waiver approval will be required.
Questions on where the waiver is sent for: USNA, USCGA, USMMA, and NROTC
  1. If an Academy deems applicant is competitive, the waiver is initiated and sent for review to DoDMERB, then sent to BUMED? U. S. Navy Aeromedical Reference and Waiver Guide (last update March 03, 2021)
  2. Does the same BUMED staff review for USNA, USCGA, USMMA, and NROTC?
  3. Or, is there a separate workflow staff based on the requesting academy?
  4. Are there separate BUMED staff for USMMA (Navy Reserve) and NROTC?

Thank you very much for the clarity on the process to achieve my goal!

As a polite follow up, am a recipient of a NROTC National 4 year scholarship. I was notified by the University via email on April 13th on the next steps for new student orientation. However the DoDMERB for NROTC status has changed to Medically Disqualified on April 16th. In the form letter posted, the comment states: "National ROTC Scholarship recipients: You will automatically be reviewed for a medical waiver."

My questions are:
  1. Based on the status posted in the DoDMERB, has BUMED reviewed and rejected the additional information? Essentially is it "game over" to use a metaphor.
  2. Or has the process just started from DoDMERB to BUMED? Pause and wait for a BUMED review as a NROTC National Scholarship recipient.
  3. Or is it possible to begin a rebuttal or appeal process with additional information?
As a side note I have been approved for all physical activity, sports, and strength training without restrictions entire life and a 4 year varsity athlete in football & swimming.

Very Respectfully submitted.
