Applicant suffered from intussusception at age 12, resulting in resection of approx 3 inches of colon. No physical limitations resulted. Any reason why a waiver should not be granted? Although Academy website says do nothing, waiver application will be processed for you, is there anything proactive that applicant can do to promote waiver?

The bowel resection may be difficult to obtain a waiver for. I would definitely have the applicant write a letter explaining everything in their words. From the start of the symptoms, through the surgery and recovery period. I would also have the applicant state what difficulties they have now due to the surgery, of at all. Also state what activities they participate in and what difficulties they have, if any at all.

Submit this letter to DoDMERB, they will forward it to the waiver authorities.
