Hey everyone. I've heard conflicting opinions on this subject. So for Christmas I got a Seal Luminox watch (boo navy but good watch). Its nice and durable and waterproof. No alarms no stopwatch. Should I use this watch for beast? Is there a different watch anyone would recommend? Possible link? Thanks!

You may want to wait until the packing list appears in your portal in case anything changes, but on the recommended list last year was - wrist watch (conservative and in good taste).

Within that guideline - I recommend an inexpensive watch with the following:
  1. Predominately dark color -black, dark gray, olive drab, etc.
  2. Digital with light button - much easier to read quickly/accurately and in the dark
  3. Waterproof/resistant - doesn't need to be rated to 20,000 leagues under the sea. Just so you don't have to worry about it if it's submerged in shallow water or in heavy rain etc.
  4. At least 1 alarm so you can wake up before the cadre wakes you up (you won't have enough time to get ready if you don't get up early). Additional alarms can be useful.
  5. Rubber/Plastic band. Much easier to keep clean.
  6. Casio and Timex make several different models with these features between $15 - 50.

Go with the Casio G Shock or something cheaper that you pick up at Target. You want an alarm, you want water proof, you want a back light. Must be digital. Plastic band. Keep it cheap.

Thank you for this information!

After looking into them, I just realized that they aren't all rediculously expensive. Found a good one for $50 online so I think I'm going to go with it. Thank you all for your input!

You will be rough on your watch during beast. Many watches brake so go with cheap and keep the nice watch for dressy occasions at WP.

My son got a G-shock before beast last year. He still almost never takes it off. He uses the alarm, so that may be a valuable feature.

Also, cadets are pretty observant at WP. If cadre know you are wearing a Navy seal watch I can only imagine the crap you will get during beast. Just saying.
