Wave of appointments

I just spoke to my admissions councilor and besides making me extremely anxious ("...it looks like you've got some good scores here... YOUR PACKAGE HAS ALREADY GONE BEFORE THE BOARD AND HAS A GRADE, now it's just a process... enlisted, I'd think they might send you to the Prep School... maybe mid-April for your update...") he said that notifications would continue to go out next week despite the fact that USAFA is on spring break. So everyone still waiting, don't despair! Still 97 more days for you to hear good news :)
Oh my gosh! That must be the most nerve-wracking thing EVER! Good luck and I'll be praying for you!

Was this wave still the MOC slated appointments or was it coming from ye national pool?

Amak, I believe most or all of the updates were MOC appointments. Appointments from the national pool won't finish up until April.

My appointment letter said that it was "on behalf of the superintendent" does this mean I was charged from the national pool? Or was the phone call from my congressman telling me of the appointment, indicative that I am on his slate? I'm thrilled regardless, just curious.

I don't think you'd be able to tell by the letter. DD was an EA appointment last year & the "on behalf of the superintendent" was also in her letter.

Oh! And congratulations!

I am pretty sure that every letter says the same thing essentially. Mine said "on behalf of the superintendent" as well. Congrats on the appointment

Kent, your appointment was probably credited to the MOC who called you. My letter said "on behalf of the Superintendent" as well. I believe it is part of their standard acceptance letter, and doesn't indicate anything about the appointment type.

Congrats to you and everyone else on your appointments! :thumb:

Thank you all! Still waiting on news from USNA, but I look forward to potentially meeting you all. Best of luck to those still in the waiting game, and congrats to all appointees

Thanks, I am really hoping to see my portal updated soon! Even if I receive a rejection letter I'll be keeping my fingers crossed until BCT starts.

Best of luck to you, amak! Here's hoping you get that portal update really soon! :thumb:
Thanks again. I've been browsing these forums for a while now and a lot of the information here has helped me understand how the admissions and nominations process works.

At this point if we haven't received an appointment does it mean we are in the national pool?

I think I'm in the national pool, at least. I got an invitation to a banquet with the Congressman who put me in West Point and on the email it had the names of two other guys both going to USAFA. So I think he's already charged with his AFA guys.

I still have a presidential nom, too, if those aren't all gone.

Our Congressman is the Chairman of the House Committee for Veteran's Affairs, so he's super busy right now with hearings. DH happens to know someone in their office, though, and that person texted him a congratulations on DS appointment and to watch for the email from the USAFA on Thursday (which did happen). So, we're supposing that DS received the congressman's slot -- but there's no "proof" in writing, really. As folks have said, once they get to basic, they're all the same!

While I admit I'm not optimistic for myself, as well as any others that haven't yet received word, there is still time for one or two large waves and perhaps some trickle after that. The vast majority of appointments seem to have gone out for house reps so far, so hopefully those of us with other nomination sources are still incoming. It is very well possible that some congressional members are busier than others at this time of year, as others have stated. I've only spotted one AFROTC/AFJROTC nom and barely any from my home state.

But honestly, while determination is always better than despair, coming from someone who didn't make the cut last year and probably won't this year, its best to start steeling yourself for that rejection letter now than get surprised by it. It makes the disappointment just sad as opposed to heartbreaking.

Think positive, Treeman! I understand being realistic about your chances, but just remember, not all appointments have been made! Hang in there! I have high hopes for you and the other C/O 2019 hopefuls on this forum!

I agree. Stay positive! I'm in the same boat as you; this is my second time applying. Good things come to those who wait!

My Navy BGO told me a story about a couple of candidates he knew who went to big name universities (I think Harvard and Princeton) after not getting into USNA the first time, but they kept reapplying and reapplying, and finally graduated with a bachelor's degree and THEN, after 4 years, got in! Never give up!
