We got our first piece of mail from our son today and we couldn't wait to open it up!!! He is happy, finding KP to be challenging but exhiliarating. He says he wants letters from "the guys", misses certain homecooked meals but likes the food and wants protein bars we used when camping. I won't bore you with the rest, as if I haven't already. But, he was able to send something out last Friday (today is Thursday). HOW SO QUICKLY? I self addressed and stamped envelopes with our names and addresses, stuffed them with a personalized-form "check off letter" with comments/questions he could check off no, yes, etc to, to let us know how he is doing. We couldn't be happier with the short info. It feels like Christmas. I know we have it easier than those in WWI WWII and Korean and Vietnam-no email, skype. I can only appreciate even more what our former & present military have gone through without the almost immediate communication we have the luxury of having.

Mail

We second the entire message. letter was a form letter and girlfriend got her check off letter too! Made our day!! also the new photos are up for days 5/6! Thanks to all for keepung us sane--we sort of.:thumb::smile::smile::smile:

I'm so glad you are getting mail. I came up with the "check off" letter when my son was at indoc in 07. Seemed like I was one of very few parents who got mail. Hold on to those letters. I plan to put my son's in a scrap book to give him (along with other stuff), at graduation.

Mail Call

Form letters rule!!:thumb: Get this~ he says his favorite part of the day is at the pool and CLEANING:eek: Who took my child and what have they done to him? and I was concerned 'cleaning' wasn't in his vocabulary.

All joking aside~he sounds good, healthy and hanging in there.

Is it Sunday yet?
