Hello, after my DS accepted his appointment we were wondering what cadets do on the weekends. He is well aware that he won’t have much free time. But what exactly do cadets do on the weekends, with and without football? Are they allowed to go out?

Sleep and homework, if there is no mandatory training or football. Pass when you've got one.

I usually just hang out with friends, or go on trips with my clubs/team. During Plebe year you can usually take walking privileges within a five mile radius (to be honest I did this once this year). Yearling and cow year you can take OPPs every weekend within 75 miles, and firsties can take pass.

I managed to leave almost every free weekend this year, either by accumulating performance passes or leaving on trip section.

How often are performance passes given out/how hard are they to get?

American Burrito..., a great business and I feel for them at the moment. Our Firstie has a fairly large gift certificate that may go unused.

There are lots of other activities you can sign up for that are on weekends as well. Some are company based and some for all. I think the tunnel to towers run is most of the core and my dd has done a lot of company activities including a run dedicated to a fallen soldier from her company and helping at a local animal shelter.

There is always the bustling metropolis of Highland Falls for entertainment. Maybe some fine dining at Dong Fong.
Oh man... my stomach disagrees. So much regret.

They're not hard to get. You can get them for donating blood, attending some sports games, getting good grades, maxing a PT test, etc. I had a bunch left over both semesters (they do not roll over). I don't think I ever worried about being able to take pass if I wanted to.

I personally spend my weekends asleep just because I don't have much else to do and I don't like doing homework (that's my Sunday night thing). TBH, weekends are your opportunity to get a break from academics and do what you want to do. I have friends in my company that go out basically every weekend, others who their D1 sports take up their whole weekend, and others that just hang out in the barracks/go explore WP, there's no one thing that you can really put under something every CDT does because like college students, everyone does something different. If they want to do something, for the most part they will be able to do it, they just have to not be like so caught up in the stress of WP to take a chance.

Dong Fong is like the best place to eat as a Cadet. That and Bowling Alley Pizza.

They're not hard to get, but as a Plebe there's a maximum that you're allowed to take. I can't remember off the top of my head because I only took one for Army Navy but yeah. It honestly just depends on your company and your friend group

Are all cadets were required to go to the Army Navy game, or can only a select group go?

All cadets are required to go unless you are one of the upperclassmen that have the Q shift. The spirit pass you have as a Plebe is meant for you to travel for Army Navy (or else you're getting up at ~0400 to ride the Boomerang). i've heard of people getting an extra spirit pass for that game specifically, it just depends on your company though.
