As a 4th Class Cadet, don't count on getting the number of passes mentioned above. Passes can be very much squadron dependent. 4th Class Cadets at Air Force are in the midst of the 40 days leading up to Recognition. Even though this is a 3 day federal holiday weekend, some squadrons have restricted 4th Class Cadets to base. Some 4th Class Cadets have special passes this weekend (SSS) to fly home, go to see GF, BF or family -- but others are restricted and won't be leaving the Academy. If you are not on Dean's List, not on Commandant's List and not an IC athlete, and your squadron decides to restrict all 4th Class Cadets because of squadron performance on knowledge tests or other things -- you may not get passes -- even though other 4th Class Cadets, in other squadrons, do. You also may not find out until the last minute that you are going to get, or not get, a pass. It requires a lot of flexibility and handling disappointment when you, and some or all of the freshman in your squadron, end up restricted at the last minute.
