Went to an USCGA event today in downtown Chicago at the Pritzker Military Museum. It was very well done. I'd never even heard of the Museum but it was a lovely facility. The CGA brought lots of personnel (Admissions, CSPI, Recruiter, Cadet, local officers) and answered all the questions, taught us some things that we didn't know (this was the 3rd event we've attended including a trip to the Academy this summer) and gave out cool swag. :)

My junior daughter has been committed to USCGA for awhile now but today really got her excited about the opportunities the Academy has to offer, and more importantly, about what she could contribute to the Academy. I have been very impressed and although I am not excited to go through the SA anxiety again as a parent, I am thrilled that she is so focused and proud of her strong desire to protect and serve.

So thanks to LTJG Rivera, Capt. McKenna, Petty Officer Blacklaw, Mr. Ware, LTJG Garofalo, LT Arnold, Cadet Vuu and those who's names I don't have for bringing your A game today. My daughter is seriously loving the blue kool-aid! :thumb:

There will be a group of USCGA cadets in Chicago on Saturday, December 5th, 2015. The cadet singers will perform at www.christmasship.org in the morning and also at Navy Pier at 1PM after lunch. The academy usually has representatives on-board the USCGC Mackinaw to speak to perspective cadets.

Thanks for the head's up! She's extremely interested in singing at USCGA and actually saw the Chorale when they performed in the area a couple years ago. We'll definitely put this on our calendar.
