I am going to be a junior this coming fall. I have a 31 ACT and plan to take it again to increase my score. I have a 4.0 GPA and have taken many honors classes, and even college courses as a freshman and sophomore. I received a 5 on my APUSH exam as well. I am involved in Cross Country and Swimming, and am a district qualifier and hopefully state qualifier in swim. I am in multiple clubs, and even deliver communion for my church. I help to host political debates in my area and am active in politics. I was wondering if anyone had any input on my stats and what my chances of admission are.

I don't see much mention of leadership in your "resume". It's the primary thing they are looking for... Scholarship, athletics, and leadership.

That being said, the only way to determine your chances is to apply. None of us will see your essays, nor will we bee in your interviews. Your academics are strong, but since we don't see the entire package it's impossible to say. Good luck.

I totally agree with @kinnem another thing to look at deeper is sports. Army is a team, Cross Country, and Swim, while they get yo fit, they aren't much of a team sport. West Point looks for people who work well both alone and together, so don't drop what you're good at, but add something to it. In Junior and Senior year, get onto a varsity team. This is VERY important for your application. Even better would to also be a captain. Good luck in Junior year.

@olympics1 - Don't worry about your choice of sport. XC and Swimming are great choices. It sounds like you are a really good swimmer, so that is good. I would like to see a linebacker or shortstop swim a 400 IM! If you can get some leadership in XC/Swim - even better. Most important thing is that you have shown athletic accomplishment. Take some time and build your resume. Go back and document all the great things you have done. Start developing the story and look for leadership opportunities to compliment your application. Good luck!

I plan to get involved in leadership of athletic teams and in school clubs when I’m able to, which is this coming year. Thanks!

I am already a varsity athlete in swimming and cross country. I respectfully disagree with your statement about swimming and cross country being individual sports, it’s the team that wins meets. There are individual and relay races, but overall it’s the team. But I appreciate your honest feedback. I plan on being a team captain in the future!

Haha that would be interesting to see! I’ve been in swimming for 8 years so I’ve definitely had some commitment to that! I appreciate your feedback I appreciate it!
