Hello all,

I have an LOA, and I believe I finished my Candidate Checklist almost two months ago, but I got an email today (and one a month ago) saying, "To meet the requirements of your conditional appointment (Letter of Assurance), you must complete your Candidate Checklist by December 07, 2024. If you fail to meet this deadline, your Letter of Assurance will be rescinded; however, you could still compete for admission through our regular process."

I am 99% certain I have completed my checklist, but this email is making me question if I have completed it 100%. I don't want to lose my LOA over something dumb. Is there something I missed? My only concern would be the CFA section, but I already passed the CFA at the SLE so I'm not really sure.

Maybe the email is just automated and sent to everyone?

I have also attached a picture of my Candidate Checklist if anyone wants to see it.

my son is a plebe at West Point --- he received an email yesterday from West Point admission office "Joint USMA/USNA Admission Event -- Navy Memorial. DC"

Well he did apply for USNA but was turned down --- at first he thought that he had a chance to swap -:)

Anyway, they just send email assuming you are still in the process of the application.

Email your RC and request them to review your application for any missing items from the checklist.

Just curious, if he had a chance to swap, would he?

I’m interested in the WP experience.

Good question but it is impossible to get the answer

He is not interested in flying (becoming a pilot, so he did not even apply for AFA). He applied for both USNA and USMA for their historical prestiges -- USNA is an hour drive from our home, that was the main reason he preferred USNA, the other reason he preferred USNA because it was really easy for him to pass CFA --so he thought he would have no problem to deal with physical training in the navy -- he made a lot efforts to pass his USMA CFA, so he was worried for possible failure in physical training at West Point.

He is doing great at West Point during the academic semester. He has done a lot tutoring in math and computer sciences to his fellow cadets, for that he was the only plebe named "xxxxx" in his company --- I found it out from his company social media.

West Point "advanced core math program" consists 3 semesters courses, "math modeling and intro differential equations", "advanced multivariable calculus" and "probability and statistics". He just took the first one "math modeling and intro differential equations" this semester and validated the other two. He would have validate the first one if they had offered a test. As far as math requirement at West Point, he is done already.

He has developed a strong bond with West Point. I can tell his reaction to Army-Navy game (he would not behave like those you. saw at the Metros) I think anyone who has spent time with fellow cadets would have developed such a bond. Same for USNA's mids !

Because there is no such a swap (except exchange program -- when they swap "prisoners" during the game), so I did ask if he would like to spend one semester at USNA (so be closed to home), he said no -- he said he wanted to spend his solid four years at West Point. He has a sense of belonging, that is West Point

Thanks so much for this!

I met a lot of Cadets at the Army Navy game that were polite, friendly, courteous, and represented West Point well. Their parents and country should be proud of them.

Thanks for sharing this about your son. It sounds like Navy sure missed out on a great kid.

I hope he continues to do well and I know he will make a great Army Officer!
