West point Scholarship Program

just curious if anyone knows details about WP scholarship program? My Ds received an email that invited him to an upcoming briefing on Some grad school scholarships. He just began his yuk year so I was wondering how many cadets are participants in this program, how the selection process works, etc apparently some cows and yuks were just invited to apply for various scholarships such as Truman, Goldwater, Stamps.

I am not familiar with the process at all but thought the start if yuk year seemed incredibly early in this journey? Just chalk my curiousity up to the overall intrigue if WP and how their inner workings function

The briefings occur early because cadets need to understand what is involved in being competitive for scholarships and to help those interested in applying use their academic time strategically and wisely. Our son’s mentor has worked with him since the beginning of junior year for a particular scholarship that requires a publication prior to graduation. He was granted an independent study last year to work on research and the paper, and his summer assignments both aligned with completing this work. Senior year would have been too late. In any case, any questions your cadet has can be answered by his department chair or his academic mentor.
