I applied to the SLS program and I have some questions.

Do they look at the candidate's profile for the SLS application?
Can you can update it anytime online because I haven't got my SAT scores back yet.

Also is anyone else still waiting? And are the posted dates the ONLY dates you will hear back on, or can you still hear from them any day?

Yes, they look at the information you entered for your profile (class rank, test scores, leadership, etc).

Yes, you can update your scores, you'll need to send your official results to the academy and they will update them. You won't be able to go back online and update the scores yourself.

I assume you got an email acknowledging your application. My DS completed his initial app but did not apply to SLE. He received an acknowledgment that provided a candidate number and password. When you log in you will find information on how to send in your request to update your information under one of the links.
Note: His app is pending review as I suspect many if not all before he can continue forward with the rest.

I applied in mid-February and am still waiting on a reply. :( Has anyone received an email regarding their status yet?

I was on the live chat two nights ago with West Point, and they said that, at the moment, they have many more applications than seats available. But there will still be candidates accepted for another "2 Weeks" they mentioned.

Summer Programs....

The Summer Program at West Point is designed to allow students an opportunity to taste and feel the campus. It exposes you to broad aspects of what WP has to offer. The program is very similar to other programs schools give to prospective students who are interested in attending. The big difference attending WP is you are joining the Army and after your second year and you do decide continue you are committed. However, it doesn’t really give you an idea of the day-to-day struggles Cadets deal with to navigate 47 months of being there.

Not going to SLS will not mean the end of the world. There are no points given to add to your WCS. They will allow you to open your file a few months earlier than the rest of your prospective classmates.

Attending Boys/Girls State, during this same time period, will give you leadership points that will go on your WCS.

Good Luck!!

Tub boat is right, if you do not get accepted, it does not mean they are not interested in you, there are only so many sots.... The way it was explained to me is this: this is tool for the academy to give non traditional and elite applicants a taste of what the academy is about, in hopes they continue pursuing an appointment.

Tug_boat is right. I got denied from SLE. But I got an appointment 10 months after being denied.

SLE is a great opportunity to get a feel for WP. (I can't say so personally because I didn't go.) But it is partially a recruitment trip for prospective candidates and it also could be a way to measure candidates in how well they performed there.

But it is not the end of the world if you don't get into SLE. They actually accept less people into SLE than they do for the school itself. (500 SLE acceptances and 1200 Appointments.) SLE is a relatively small portion of getting the big picture of an experience at WP. If you want to go to WP and have a career in the army, you can make that happen; with or without SLE.
