This is not correct. My grad has his feathered Firstie plume and the pom/other one. I think grads could pay to keep pieces of their uniform.I would recommend contacting the Cadet Store to see whether they sell the tarbucket also. Doesn't your hubby still have his tarbucket? They allow you to keep that, but you turn in your feature plume...and keep the other one (the one that looks like an oversized pipe cleaner...or something else...LOL).

You're very inquisitive, Ted75. Are you a grad, parent, or just interested in West Point? You have already said you aren't a candidate. Was your grad able to keep the rank patch on his/her full dress uniform? Perhaps you can't keep non-standard (other than the 3 chevron) 1st class ranks (ie. co/bat/reg/brig command or staff)?

Are you serious? You won't respond if I don't identify myself???
What if I'd just like to keep my status anonymous?
Have you considered that any fool can come on this board and fabricate a story about themselves?

I've got my tar bucket with feathered plume. Contact me if you are interested in purchasing it. booter86@aol.comI would like to buy a tar bucket with feather for my husband. He was at the Academy many years ago and continues to talk about the hat. I would like to surprise him. Any idea where I can buy one?
Maybe an old thread, but I'm a grad and also wanted the plume. I bought it here, and it is to spec (order 16 inch):

Here is the Army requisition for the specs to verify. https://www.fbo.gov/index?s=opportunity&mode=form&tab=core&id=e379a534ea09331eb6257578f8ac267f
You should be able to get the tarbucket from West Point - their contract ran out some years back for the plumes, I don't know who won the contract, but I am happy with what I bought and they gave me a military discount without asking me for my retired ID. Good company. Plume appears to be cheaper than when I bought mine. $39 before shipping, and before discount.
Hi Tom, in our move from Colorado to AZ my husbands feather plume was "lost" the link to the vendor mentioned in your note was removed... would you kindly reply with that information. Thank you!
