Hello all. I am an appointed CC to the c/o 2024 and am very interested in branching infantry. Does anyone know how well West Point prepares cadets for Ranger School, and is there anything in particular I should focus on during my time there? Thanks in advance.

I’m c/o 2024 as well. I’ve been enlisted for a minute and I’ve graduated ranger school. To that effect I’ve also seen a different perspective of USMA graduates in ranger school than most people posting. No one goes to ranger school unprepared for the material. It just doesn’t happen, it’s Skill level 1. It’s a matter of the pressure in the moment both physical and psychological. West Point and more importantly IBOLC or whatever bolc you end up going to are very dedicated to producing ranger school graduates. You will have the tools you need when you go. Don’t worry about ranger school right now, worry about being a good member of the team.

The military development program at West Point plus BOLC (especially Infantry BOLC) prepares graduates very well for Ranger School.

CLDT (Cadet Leadership Development Training), a graduation requirement usually met at the end of Cow year, is referred to as a "mini Ranger School" focusing on tactical problem solving and leadership under stress.

There are also numerous optional opportunities for further military skill development through clubs and other activities: Sandhurst, Parachute Team, Orienteering, Climbing, Rifle, etc.

Do you happen to have any further information on the Parachute Team? I'm extremely interested in joining it yet I can't find much information on it.

I know very little about it, other than it is a highly competitive and selective process. Tryouts are open to all Cadets and I've heard it is pretty rigorous physically.
