In the USAFA forums there is discussion about cell phone service at the Academy, and it made me think to ask about the service at my son's first duty station.

He will be headed to Laughlin AFB in Del Rio, TX in about a month and a half (as soon as the AF is done paying him 2d Lt pay + allowances to sit on my couch for two months playing video games with his brother). I was wondering of anyone had experience with AT&T service in the Del Rio area.

Also, as long as I'm asking, what about AT&T service at Maxwell AFB? (He will be going TDY there for 3-6 weeks for ASBC sometime between August and Oct.)

AT&T works well in Del Rio.
Verizon is always on roaming, but works pretty well.

Off topic for a minute, but I thought they pulled the plug on ASBC. DS has AT &T and had no problem with it at Maxwell last yr.

Raimius and Pima, Thanks for the info on cell service.

Pima, As far as I know, ASBC is still a requirement unless waived due to other training.

They tried to cut off ASBC's funding, but someone figured they should just charge the home unit instead.
