What all do you wear during the army weight and height test?

In the reserve unit I was with, it was the PT uniform (shorts, tee-shirt) and no shoes.

Did you have to empty your pockets?

Depends on if you have trouble making weight....

Honestly, I was in a medical reserve unit (lots of middle-aged doctors and nurses - 40-60 year-olds) and we had a lot more being taped than struggling to make weight. The few that were underweight generally tanked up on a glass or two of water after we came back from the run (we weighed after the PT test). Honestly, this is going to be unit specific. I would hope at West Point it would be a lot more consistent than in the hall outside the restrooms at a Reserve center in Grand Rapids Michigan.

AR 600-9 Appendix B says Height and weight measurement will occur in the Army Physical Fitness uniform and socks (no shoes). This is pretty much the standard I have seen for 20 years now. The APFU trunks have a pocket for either a car key and or ID card but that is about it and you can take those out and put them in your shoes.

'Back in my day' our PT uniform had options of a long sleeve shirt, a jacket and trousers instead of trunks. Even a black watch cap was allowed. So I'm not sure if that regulation clears up much.

You can or you have to?

I recently took the H&W, you wear your PT Shirt, shorts, and socks. PT belt, ID, and any forms or cash were put away. If you are being "taped" to my knowledge they wore the same thing.
