Autocorrect isn't in the military. She switched it, but thanks for the helpful correction. Before Basic, he is a Cadet Candidate. Day one of basic, he is a Basic Cadet. After A-Day, he is an Unrecognized 4th Class Cadet or Cadet 4th Class. Then after recognition, he is a Cadet 4th Class.

Squids... what can I tell ya? That one does look tasteful and appropriate.

To be fully transparent, when I first saw the "chair" in the pic I sent, fighter jet was the first thing that came to mind.To be fair the seat of a fighter plane is one I will gladly sit in one day.
For those interested, it's "DOOLIE. "Legend" has it that it was an ancient Greek word for slave.View attachment 9146

My DS is 2024 at USMMA and he said the upperclassmen told him that "You're a Plebe until you see a Plebe" so that is the same anyway. He is still enjoying being recognized and the "rates" that come with it though. My DS was never referred to as Plebe, just Doolie or 4-dig.
Now at the end of the year he tells me that they say you are a Doolie until you have eyes on a Basic from the next class so there is some effort that goes into seeing the Basics as soon as possible to shed the moniker.
