I know this has probably been asked a million times but I am eager to know what my chances are a receiving a scholarship. The army has been my dream for as long as I can remember and I am going to be first generation military in my family. Aside from reading what others have said online I haven’t really talked to anyone about my chances. Any feedback helps.

-1310 SAT

-3.2 unweighted GPA

-President of weightlifting club at my school for 2 years

-Played football freshman and sophomore year, made varsity sophomore year and was a captain (stopped because concussions affected academics)

-Received an all league award my sophomore year

-Worked 2 jobs during the summer and work one during the school year for the past 2 years

-6:29 mile, 65 push ups, 76 sit ups

I know I don’t have a lot of extracurricular's but would it be worth it to put in some various volunteer jobs I've done? I wasn’t sure if it would be worth it because they total to only around 16 hours. I'm relatively strong in terms of physical fitness but I know that my academics are lacking. I plan to apply for the first board and supposing my PMS interview goes well what would my chances be?

The answer that you will see in all of these threads is that it's a case-by-case basis. It depends on the rest of your peers and how they performed relative to you. That being said, yes, put down every possible volunteer thing you can think of that you have done. Don't leave out anything because every point matters. Even now, start volunteering more and take every opportunity you can.

You will probably get a remedial during the DODMERB regarding the concussion so be prepared when you reach that point.

Thank you for your feedback, it really made me realize all volunteer work I had done and was hesitant to put down before.

Based on the limited info, you appear to be competitive.

The physical fitness assessment for the AROTC application indicates a one minute time period for curl-ups and push-ups. If you did 65 push-ups and 76 sit-ups in one minute each, you are probably not doing them correctly. When you get to campus and do your first APFT as an MS1, you may be surprised at how many aren't counted.

Yeah I accidentally did the APFT with my P.E. Teacher and was given 2 minutes instead of 1. I actually just did the PFT today and got 50 pushups, 57 curl-ups, and took the mile again but got a 6:49. I'm super bummed about my mile time but that just means I just gotta train harder. Thank you for your feedback it means a lot.

Please tell me that they decide who's president with a lift-off.

You bet your ass we do! Currently I have the biggest total in my club sitting at 515 dead 405 squat 245 bench 1165 total. My club hosts a meet every end of the month for members who wanna try for a PR!
