I am currently a Junior in Highschool planning to apply to Virginia tech Corps of cadets as well as the AROTC 4 year scholarship. I'm a little but uncertain of my chances, because my GPA isn't extremely great and I understand there is a lot of competition

I plan on majoring in business, I know for navy and air force that plays a factor but I'm not sure about army

I have a 3.87 gpa weighted and a 3.5 unweighted
I take all IB and AP classes, the hardest available
I have a 1340 [math and CR] or 1910 SAT
I Play lacrosse and football, will have 3 varsity letters by the time of Application, most likely a captain on the football team as well
I'm in NHS and NEHS
I'm in the student government
I participate in lots of community service as well as mission trips
I've gone to leadership seminars including the west point conference for leadership and ethics
I've also attended the spend the night program for VTCC and I will be going to the naval academy summer seminar, if that holds any weight.
I have a job that I've held for almost 2 years and work about 15-20 hours a week.

If you have any advice for me as well I am open to any suggestions or points of criticism! Thank you!

Going to a leadership seminar is nice. Far better is being a leader. Team captain is good, but more is better. Perhaps you have it but just didn't mention it. I'm interested, especially since you plan to apply to an SMC, as to why the Service Academies are not on your list?

Your right, VT is very competitive for scholarships.

You have a strong resume, but don't put all your eggs in one basket, broaden your horizons a bit, look at other schools as well and be open to all options and you'll have a good shot.

I received a 4 year AROTC scholarship to my top 3 schools during this last board. You and I have about the same GPA but my ACT was only a 26 composite score and my SAT was a 1200 (M and CR). I am involved in NHS, 3 bands and have lots of community service. I also have 9 varsity letters.

I definitely think you are competitive for a AROTC scholarship but but I would recommend not to put all your eggs in one basket. The end of September I decided to branch out and to apply for AROTC after I turned in my NROTC application. This last week I found out I was denied a NROTC scholarship but Im super grateful for the Army to offer me one!

Kinnem, I love Virginiatech and always have wanted to go there, and want to be in the military. I was the committee leader for multiple committes in the student government, as well as a group leader in FBLA. I plan on attending the Corps of Cadets either way, I just really would like the 4 year scholarship from the army.

Looks very good, but some schools are quite competitive. Have you visited? Talked with cadets? Look around and you will find a school and battalion that wants good cadets I believe.
