I’m a rising junior and was wondering what my chances are of getting into WP and what I can do to improve my application. I currently have a 4.05 weighted GPA and an ranked in the top 10% of my class ( I plan on joining NHS this year). I take all honors and AP courses. I am taking the SAT in August. I took the PSAT but had a bad day and only scored an 1190.As for extracurriculars, I participate in track, xc, and wrestling with multiple varsity letters from each sport. I am also a member of my school’s quiz bowl/ academic team. I also participate in several other clubs. I have over 70 hours of community service... I hope to get over 100 by January. I volunteer at a local hospital and with big brothers big sisters. I plan on attending boys state and possibly securing a leadership position if possible. Again, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

From your input, you seem like a well-rounded student. Keep taking that SAT/ACT (I got same results) and to stand out consider gaining some leadership roles.

Hope to see you there as class of 2025!

Work on leadership. Try to get a team captain role for example. In any case it's not just a matter of having a title, it's what you accomplish with the role.

No one here can tell you about your chances. Look up USMA’s last class profile and see how you stack up in terms of key aspects (test scores, athletic participation). But that’s just one input and it’s only directional. Other than what you mentioned, be ready to explain your leadership impact, not just titles held or hours volunteered.

The SA academy applications are binary. Investigate and study your nomination source(s) and process.

Get an ACT/SAT experienced tutor. Some also coach on essays. Our DD cadet had a profile similar to you but also captain of her varsity team, got a 33 ACT/1420 SAT and it still took an additional year at a senior military college to get in. Being a XC runner will benefit you. Tenacity pays off, if you really want to go there, so keep pushing to get nominations and all details in place. Even network connections with alumni helps
