Hello community,
I want an honest answer on what my chances are to get accepted to USMAPS and if I can’t get accepted, what should I do as an alternate route.
I am an 18 year old male high school senior, in California's 7th district.
Here are my details:
-GPA 3.39(my low gpa is due to laziness as a freshman and sophomore but it has drastically improved from a 3.6 end of sophomore year to a 4.1 end of junior year)
- SAT 1200
- ACT 25
- I have taken honors/ AP courses all throughout high school
-I have wrestled all four years and have 2 varsity letters; I was also the team captain last year. I qualified for the Masters tournament.
- I played football for 2 years (junior varsity)
- I played golf for one year going varsity
- I am a member of my school’s community service club, volunteering
I just want an honest answer for my chances, and I want to know what a secondary plan should be to apply in the future to possibly get accepted.

From what you posted about your grades, your chances of getting a USMAPS offer is very remote because they are too good. Unlike what might apply to other service academies, you have to be deemed "not-qualified" by the process to be considered for USMAPS. As I see it, your issue is that your grades are too high for that determination but are not high enough to be a strong candidate. The best secondary plan is to go off to college, take a rigorous plebe like schedule and do well. You could also help yourself by improving your test scores for the next admission cycle.

You can't apply to USMAPS. USMA admissions may offer you USMAPS if you are a promising USMA candidate found academically unqualified but meet certain class profile objectives.

If you want an appointment to USMA, apply then let the chips fall where they may. If you don't get in, follow USMA 1994's advice. And try to get your test scores up.

A quirk in academy admissions compared to civilian colleges is that if you win your district and are qualified, you get an appointment. Historically, CA 7th district has not been very competitive to get a nomination. I don't have the most recent figures, but in the 4 years 2009 - 2012 CA 7th has not nominated more than 5 candidates in any year to USMA.
