I plan on joining Beta Club and Mu Alpha Theta my senior year, and I also have some awesome letters of reccommendation coming. I attended CVW in Feb. but got waitlisted for NASS and unfortunately didn't get the chance to attend. No family members have attended any service academy. I am worried about my SAT scores but other than that I think I have at least a decent chance.

Keep doing what you're doing and apply to every nomination source you can. Definitely work on that Math SAT.

Very strong resume. I didn't see AP physics or chem listed, so make sure you take a senior year science class. Taking a SAT course over the summer should increase your math score. Install a pull up bar in your room and try to max out the CFA. You've got proven leadership and a very good chance - keep it up!

Your stats look about average for qualified applicants. It's all up to the admissions board after you apply. Some with better stats than yours will not get offers of appointment, and some worse than yours will get offers. Do your best and see what happens. I'd have a good plan B though.

I'd have a good plan B though.

EVERYONE needs a "Plan B." Had a kid recently with 800/800 SATs, great grades in a heavy STEM program, decent activities, leadership, sports etc. -- and 2 MOC noms in a hyper-competitive area -- receive a turndown. Thus, as stated in the sticky above . . . people can tell you if you're generally competitive but that honestly isn't (or shouldn't be) much comfort.

I'm surprised that he or she did not get picked up off the NWL. There was a person at my school last year who applied for the Naval Academy and was rejected but was accepted by Duke University which is arguably even more selective than the Naval Academy.

There is no "formula" to this process. Folks get accepted at Harvard and rejected at Yale and Stanford. Some are accepted at Duke and rejected by Amherst. And on it goes. Anyone applying to highly selective schools -- SAs and civilian universities -- cannot count on an acceptance to any, no matter how great their "resume." That's why folks need to have some plan that is more of a "sure thing."

Your Math SAT is low.

The thing is there are @2000 HSs in the nation. The cgpa is not the same from 1 hs to another even in the same congressional district. SAT scores are.

The 2nd issue is USNA is oriented towards a STEM curriculum. If your Math foundation is not there, than you could be behind the 8 ball once classes start.

I get test anxiety, but with almost a 700 on CR, it does not appear to me that it is test anxiety. Keep studying the Math portion since they superscore. If the next exam your CR drops to 650, the CR will still be 690 in your packet. Yet, because you hunkered down studying only Math, and it jumps to 660, your new SAT would be 1350. 690 and 660. It would not be 1310 (650 CR and 660 M)
