Admissions states that a "passing" CFA score is required but all I can find are average scores. Are "passing" scores published anywhere?

No one knows, and the system is designed that way to give the academies wiggle room. Otherwise, they'd post the minimums.

Some would say they don't out them because they want applicants to strive to do their best, not be just "good enough."

Our Mids and Cadets got where they are by excelling. I doubt very seriously if they would meet minimum standards and stop. It's a contest with a big reward at the end.

Perhaps I should clarify. This is by no means looking for the minimum so as to be just "good enough." While, admittedly, I was never smart enough to attend a a service academy, I am a VMI alum and former Army officer who has had plenty of experience with service academy peasantry and know that these men and women are the best of the best. My question pertains to my son's application. On his application status page, there is a line that says, "CFA: _____"
He submitted his CFA last week so I am sure that results have just not populated into that space yet. All his results were at least equal to or better that the published averages. When it is processed, will that status show as pass/fail so that he knows if he needs to attempt again or will he somehow be contacted?

No news is good news. If he passed then Complete CFA will be removed from the required actions list and you will not hear anything. He will receive an email if he did not pass.

you'll always hear "there's no minimums, just maximums". well that's wrong. there is guidelines and a scale floating around out there on the web I found when I was applying. However, the minimum is flexible due to the fitness level of applicants. If all else, look at the minimums for the APFT and the PRT as those tests give similar minimums. If you're below minimums on these guys, you're in rough shape.

Where did you find the average CFA scores? I have them for all the other academies, but not USMMA. Thanks!

I believe you can see the minimum requirements through a link on the website. It will give you the varying ranges

The CFA instructions and score sheet shows maximums and averages. He was above average (by a little or a lot depending upon the event) on every event so I assume this is at least "passing" but his portal is still showing a blank on CFA. Nothing can be done now but wait, anyway.

He Passed.

Can you still pass your CFA while doing only one pull up? I can max out everything else and I can have many people vouch for me that I am very athletic. I am also very good at lacrosse, is that taken into consideration?
