What boot to get

My DS likes his Danner Rivots - he used them throughout BCT and now wears them during squadron training exercises. He switches to Nike SFBs "casual" use, but indicates that the Danners provide much better support (as well as being much more waterproof) and is glad that he had them for BCT.

Whatever you choose, make sure they fit well and you break them in before I-Day.

DS has the Danner Rivot TFX and has been really happy with them. He wore them during BCT and is still wearing them. He is a fan!! He has a tough-to-fit wide foot, and the Danners come in wide and fit him very well.
By some miracle we found them on sale at an online army surplus, but, yes well worth it.

It think it changes from time to time, but believe it was Belleville last year.

I ordered Nikes, assuming I could switch to the SI boots if needed. Now that I've read a lot of forums I'm starting to think they may not be the best. How well do you think they'll fare during BCT? I watched a video of a guy who used them during ranger school, so I assumed they would be fine for BCT.

Nikes are awesome. You can wear the Bellevilles for courses and such if you're extra worried about your Nikes not holding up.

Thanks! I'm not too worried. Even if they are destroyed by the end, I figured the extra comfort would be worth shelling out more cash for another pair.

It literally just feels like you're wearing sneakers. Especially great for running.

My DS got Belleville during the summer and broke them by running. He wore them on I-day and during BCT. Had no problem with them. But on A-day we took Nike to him to wear them to classes. He said its lot lighter and feel comfortable.

Whatever boot you get brake them in before I-day.

That's awesome! In the appointee packet, it says that the uppers of boots must be waterproof and the Nikes are not waterproof from what I've seen.. Yet, they still recommend the Nikes saying they meet all requirements, do you know why?

They are not waterproof. But they're good boots and we won't take them away. So you're fine to have them.

Our DD (2021) had a tough time finding a boot that fit well as most are made for men and she has narrow feet. We ordered/returned multiple pairs and found the Nike's fit best (if you order directly from Nike over the phone and join their "club", they will give you a 10% military discount and you will get free shipping & returns). She used during BCT last year and they held up great. What ever you do, order early and try them on, make sure they fit and break them in.......Our DS (2019er) weren't allowed to bring boots and rushed his fitting thus had boots that were a little too big and had more blisters than he should have. So when getting fitted for uniforms/boots/shoes during BCT, take the time to make sure everything fits properly. While the Cadre want to keep things moving, do not rush this part or you may suffer more than necessary.

Are the danner reckoning 8” sage hot compliant? It doesn’t say sage green so I want to be sure

The Class of 2022 Appointee Booklet does not specifically mention the Reckoning, but if you look at http://www.danner.com/reckoning-8-sage-hot.html, it indicates that it meets US Air Force AFI 36-2903 requirement for optional wear. As KTMDad mentioned, make sure whatever boot you fits well and make sure you break them in before I-Day (so make sure you build time into to process to return 1 or 2 pair in case they don't fit/feel right).
