Hi, I found this forum in hopes that I can get some information on what the perimeters are when it comes to getting a DQ for anxiety. I'm a nurse and I have quite a bit of knowledge of the different types of anxiety but I'm at a loss as to how I can help my son get a waiver for his DQ.
When he was in High School he would get very nervous when he had to give speeches, so we put him on the lowest dose of Propanolol. This is a med that is taken by a lot of people in the entertainment industry and those who get nervous before speeches, it slows down the beat of your heart and helps calm the body down. He maybe takes it 3 times a year, if that. I don't understand how they give a DQ for something like this. He's the only student of SBCC who is in the program at UCSB and now that he's finally about to transfer to the university, he's really bummed that he may not get to stay in the program because of this med.
If anyone has any suggestions about how we should handle this it would be greatly appreciated.
