What does CPR even mean at this point?

Based purely on my limited observation and suspicion, I agree with this from USMA1994, except a few specific districts in Md/Va/Fl/Ca that I suspect they may select (way) beyond #2 and #3.

There are always exceptions and special circumstances, but for most of the applicants, winning a congressional slate is the most likely path to admissions. I can tell you that my DD was ranked highest on her slate last year in a suburb of Houston, didn't get the appointment because of a principal nominee at USMA and didn't make it off the NWL. She re-applied this year after a successful semester of college and got an appointment even though she wasn't the principal nominee again from her MOC. We suspect she got an ROTC spot but could have also come of the NWL. The WCS calculation heavily favors college re-applicants and makes it hard for high school kids to compete with them. It also makes it almost impossible for the JROTC nominees to compete with the college ROTC applicants on the Service Connected Slates.

With all that said, you are not out until you have the TWE. Keep doing your best at everything you do and good things will happen for you. You could be one of those exceptions to the rule.

Are you TX-22? I think I had the same BGO if you are and if we're talking about the same person, I have to agree!
You maybe speaking of the same BGO. Just want to point out that number of BGOs in one district depends on the workload and the availability of BGOs (alumni, parents of alumni, etc VOLUNTEERS) and it is coordinated by admissions and the Area BGO Coordinator. In a high interest area there are BGOs being assigned to only a handful of high schools, or even less.

Oh? That makes sense, and I did not know that. Thanks! And ironically, that clears up some confusion I had earlier!

Our district has a heavy Navy presence and we have one BGO that is assigned to only one high school because there are so many applicants. Another BGO that I know only has a few high schools. I'm not sure how many BGO's we have in our area but just based on the two that we know, there are probably a lot of them.

We are in Tx-22 and had a different but very nice BGO.

We had so many applicants at my DS high school that they had 2 BGO's assigned just for that school.

This is crazy! I'm from a MD school with about 1300 kids and I'm the ONLY student applying to any service academy and I had to drive over an hour to meet my BGO! Haha I love the forums Because I actually have people who can understand and relate to the process.

Contacted my BGO yesterday about the status of my app. He told me that it hadn't even gone in front of the board yet and that it will definitely be processed by the end of the week. I'm 3rd gen, with pres nom. I take this as a positive, meaning that no final decisions have been made yet because my application hasn't even seen the board. This could also be because of the fact that it's presidential nom and they haven't looked over those yet? Either way staying positive! Great backup option at USAFA so either way is a win.

Don't get your hopes up that being a 3rd Gen will mean you're "in". USNA doesn't really care about that. I was 3rd Gen, but that was 34 years ago and it was looked on favorably. Today, it's all about the test scores, high GPA, class standing, and a lot of interest in diversity and increased % of women (all good things - so don't read those as negatives at all). My DD would have been 4th Gen last year, but got waitlisted and then turned down. It all ended up well, though, as she ended up going to her first choice - USMMA and loves it.
