Can someone please let me know small details about what happens on R-Day and the first week of swab summer. I appreciate the smallest of details. Thank you.

It's a lot of admin mixed in with a hard and fast introduction to military life. That's all I'll say, it's something to be experienced without too much prior knowledge. Nothing anyone will tell you here will fully prepare you for Swab Summer. As TennisDad said, there are plenty of videos. Watch those, get in the best shape possible and enjoy your remaining months with family and friends.
To be honest, most people remember very little about R-Day. I've been a part of R-Day three times (as a swab and as a cadet) and I still couldn't tell you everything that happens.
R Day - Reporting Day is now called SI or S Day - Swearing In Day ... to enhance the understanding and magnitude of the Oath taken by the swabs that day - R and SI/S Day are one in the same ... you will likely hear both and possibly from the same person with in breaths of each other ... don't be confused they are the sameCan someone please let me know small details about what happens on R-Day and the first week of swab summer. on this page is some of the stuff pertaining to SI Day ... www.uscga.edu/2020 - the dates will be a little off because they are for last years class (2021 should be online in a week or so) but it should give you some idea of the events and time lines for the weekend and SI Day
SI Day? I love how we change the nomenclature around for no reason.
I don't know why the name change occurred, but it's "Swearing-In Day" now versus "Reporting-In Day" or "Day One" versus "R-Day". With the change came guidance that it's not being called "SI-Day" or "S-Day" so not sure what your source for that is, but they were mistaken.R Day - Reporting Day is now called SI or S Day - Swearing In Day ... to enhance the understanding and magnitude of the Oath taken by the swabs that day - R and SI/S Day are one in the same ... you will likely hear both and possibly from the same person with in breaths of each other ... don't be confused they are the sameCan someone please let me know small details about what happens on R-Day and the first week of swab summer. Thought I heard it mentioned that way sometime during AEP ... if I am mistaken about that ... No apology required and you probably did hear someone call it that during AEP since most faculty/staff are still trying to update their vocabulary. If you've called something "R-Day" for 20+ years, it's going to take more than a memo and a few days to always remember it's now called "Day One" instead.Thought I heard it mentioned that way sometime during AEP ... if I am mistaken about that ... Day One just doesn't seem to have the same cachet![]()
