What are the next steps after clicking accept to a 4yr AFROTC Scholarship? Immediately following. What paperwork besides dodmerb? And what further testing is required?

My son was sent some paperwork from his schools AROTC to complete and mail or fax back by mid July. Then upon arrival a bunch more that they did as a group.

I'm sure everyone is different, but my son didn't hear anything else from AF ROTC. He got nervous so emailed the det at his new school introducing himself and asking if he needed to do anything. They told him to stay in shape over the summer and all paperwork would be completed once he checked in as a freshman. ROTC cadets checked in three days before other incoming freshmen and everything was handled very smoothly then.

Get or stay in shape over the summer, showing up on the bottom end of the detachment's physical fitness bracket is an uphill battle the rest of the time. Be prepared to spend lots of time hitting the books. Your first semester GPA, if good, can be a great buffer for the future harder semesters that will come. If it's bad, you are again fighting an uphill battle to stay above the 2.5 GPA mark. DS received paper work from the DET to be faxed back as well. Have the CADET contact the AFROTC DET and introduce themselves and inquire what is next.
