what is the deadline for completing the application?

Chriskim,

I would strongly suggest you take down your avatar. If you get in...don't you think that you are putting a bullseye on you for BCT...showing your pic and having USNA moniker makes you someone they can quickly find...especially if your name really is Chris Kim...you might as well wear a t-shirt saying come and get me...I am not afraid of you.
A couple of yrs ago there was a you-tube clip of getting in a kids face on I-Day, all due to the fact of his pic on myspace (he was real gung-ho AF)
Trust me the threads will soon change when the kids go from asking about noms and selection to what is BCT really like. Over on CC they jokingly said they were taking names. Class of 12 was a little full of themselves on line thinking that it is totally anonymonous. (you would be shocked how much info you can give out without ever knowing...i.e. CC's son is a football player for the AFA from MT...not many of them floating around, or flymom's daughter is from NC, or our son was a military child from NC whose Dad was an LTC and flew Strikes) My favorite was a kid that taunted people until someone reminded him that they would be looking for a pr of Asian twins from NY (the poor kid now had fear in his mind b/c his brother had never been on the site and could get the fall) He couldn't figure out how they figured him out until they pasted and posted his comments.

Good luck ...just remember Wabbit season is June for Class of 13:jaw:

Pima is 100% correct. I heard a story from one of the Class of 2012 members that some kid posted a picture of him photoshopped onto the cover of the Top Gun movie on his facebook account. When he got to BCT the picture was made into a poster and put on his room's door when he first checked in. The cadet i talked with said that he dropped out a week later from all of the pressure he was receiving.

BTW Pima. DUCK SEASON!!!!

There was a kid in my D's squadron who was pointed out for statements he had made prior to the start of basic. It ended up being the source of a lot of humorous comments... Sometimes it is all in the way you receive the "criticism." Remember to keep your sense of humor. If you don't get extra attention for having a picture on this forum, then they will find something else to make your life "fun." During the Christmas break, I heard many great stories from the Valley of Jack! There were some bad ones too, I am sure...but who remembers those!?

I am sorry for the kid who left because of a silly facebook picture...but if he couldn't handle that, he just may have had a hard time handling some of the other pressures as an officer in the AF.

Oh my gosh, Salj you just took the words right out of my mouth! I was trying to say that but you said it much better!

Oh, and Pima, I hope you didn't mean to infer that my daughter was "full of herself online" because she has never posted on CC or this site. So I hope you were just pointing out how easy it is to get info. Yes, I have a D and we're from NC but there are many other girls from NC so if any cadet had that info, it didn't give them much ammo... Now making fun of her last name would have been much easier!

Seriously, I don't think cadets rely on this site for "wabbit" hunting. I think those silly "wabbits" make themselves available for hunting all on their own after they arrive in June. But like Salj said, you can't take it so seriously.

No flymom I never thought that of your daughter...my pt was it is easy to figure out who's who just by posting...putting a picture of you and adding the USNA moniker MAY put a bullseye on you when you show up at the AFA.

Actually I don't ever recalling your DD posting on either sites. I know she played sports, but I don't remember what.(Volleyball or Soccer stick in my mind) If I recall, there were only about 3-5 girls that had Doles nom...which is why I said she would be easy to pick out. Now I will say that DS's girlfriend was unhappy with the pic b/c your DD was too pretty for her to handle.:thumb: And yes your last name just like ours would have given enough for them to razz them.

Bullet and I tease Hornet all the time about his moniker and remind him that when he goes AD and ENJJPT he might get a bullseye on his back for that silly Navy moniker.

He is pretty safe in this forum lol...

Although I will be looking for him should he attend usafa.

I say keep it on, makes for an actual good time in BCT, seriously

ahh we'll have a teensy bit of authority then, wont we? and to think, in just 5 short months, we'll have someone below us on the totem pole..... hahaha. gotta get through march, first.

so what if some kid dropped out, then the academy obviously was not for him. i agree that it might...maybe...just possibly... create some extra teasing and "getting beat" sessions, but someone has to be the butt of the jokes. and everyone gets called out sooner or later.

his picture is fine. now mine, it's blow-it-up-on-the-door worthy.

Be careful...very very careful...it's not hunting season, but they are tracking :guns4:.... you are way too pretty for them not to remember....I hope you are working on how quickly you can get that hair up

I think there was an earlier post about the put on the door pic...

You can't really target someone down for having their picture up. If they say something stupid or create havoc AND have their picture up then I would be worried.

How are you going to target someone and say "hey, you, Cadet Johnson. I saw your picture on SAF. Those were some nice sunglasses you had on. Your momma made em for you? Yea you're a dufus, nobody wears sunglasses or smiles in pictures."??? that's so ridiculous. The guy with the Myspace picture photoshopped into that top gun thing, seriously? how much pressure can you possibly get from that that it's going to distract you from the rest of Hell?? He obviously wasn't material enough for the academy.

We found some of our swabs before they reported, kept track of their comments. Maybe they don't find him for his picture alone, but they have a name, face, and comments like "can your principal nominate you if your senator and congressman don't. I got punched from behind and got to be good friends with the principal from my school."

Name, face, statement....done.

Also, if you're going to the Air Force Academy, SAF will most likely be used for "Secretary of the Air Force" instead of "Service Academy Forums".

Got it LITS. Sucks to be that guy lol

About the SAT question, Service Academies don't receive scores till like 2 months after you take them. I've been bugging my counselor about posting mine since i took them november (4th i think) and they just got them and updated them last friday. Go figure.

At that rate, even if you took the SATs tonight- they'll never get there in time. They don't go by email (AFA at least), they go by super-snail-mail. I don't know about ACTs though, maybe if you took them you'll have a better chance.

My SAT scores showed up rather quick, about a week after they were posted online....
