Hi everyone, I am currently in the process of applying for the AROTC scholarship as a junior and wanted to know the likelihood of receiving a four-year.
Race: White
Gender: Female
Statistics:
-GPA: Unweighted=3.8
-Weighted=4.0
-SAT: 1290 (may retake)
Extracurricular Activities:
-4-year varsity softball player (team captain 2 years)
-Member of NHS
-Played JV water polo and ran JV cross country for 2 years
-Member of 2 other clubs
-Founding member of a community service club
-Church group member
-Played club softball for 10 years (captain of club softball team)
Jobs:
-Swim Instructor

I am currently being recruited to play softball and wanted to also participate in the AROTC program. My hope is to play collegiate softball and also be a cadet. If you guys could aid me in some things I could do better or some tips that could help me through this process I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

Between zero (if you dont apply) and 100%. See my posts about how the boards work, going with a strong file vs 1st board, and how not to try and “chance me” because it’ll drive you bonkers.
Student- low SAT but good grades
Athlete-1 sport letter winner, 2+ is better
Leader-1 sport captain, not much else. I’d highlight your lifeguarding in interview and essays (in case they are read)- it shows responsibility

Thanks for the help! I’ll be sure to check out your posts.

-SAT: 1290 (may retake)
Definitely retake! You have lots of time to study and improve your score. Every point counts. I tried to convince my DS that even a modest improvement in your score could be worth upwards of $200,000. You can do it. Also consider trying the ACT...although, with a good score already on the SAT I might just focus on that test and try to improve, especially since you can super score. Also, check your schools to see if they offer incentives for certain scores and then shoot for that (and above). My DS missed out on free room and board from the school by 2 points on the ACT.

Thanks for the feedback! What score should I shoot for that stands out among applicants?
