Now we are coming to the half way point of sophomore year and we're starting to plan for summer. My daughter wants to schedule a visit out to the Academy this summer - we are wondering should the "Bears Day" event happen when? Junior year? We already did the Service Academy fair in September...she has dropped about 25 lbs and starting to really get in shape so that's going well. We're just wondering what order should be the next few things on the road ahead.... Thank you.

I would say it depends on how close you are to CGA. Think a good plan as a Sophomore would be to focus on things that would help her application. (community service, Leadership opportunities, Test prep classes for the ACT/SAT, and getting physical fit to get the highest score she can on the PFE) Then at the beginning of her Jr year apply to AIM and contact the coach if she plays a sport and the admission officer for your area. We also went back for a Bears day during his Sr year while the academy was in its first semester.

My daughter is a freshman and we just went to a Bear’s Day event in November. She loved the experience. Also, the parent sessions were very informative and lunch was lovely. We know she’s young, but the flights were cheap and being on campus really makes things more tangible in her mind so we were happy to take her. If you can afford it, go! We made a long weekend of it and visited Mystic and NYC. She’s already talking about going back and visiting Boston this time.
