i am class of 2027. i live in maryland and am wondering how often i can come home? im about 280 miles from west point. i know as a plebe it’s restricted but does the distance get more when your older? what’s the distance allowed per year? and do you get passes?

You can come home on the holidays... and when you take a pass. Yes, you get more passes as you progress and sometimes if you do good things.
Talk to your parents about joining the MDDCVA Parents Club. They run buses for Labor Day Weekend, (YES YOU CAN COME HOME LABOR DAY!); Thanksgiving, Christmas break, Spring Break, Graduation... It is the best deal going. You catch the bus near the parade field and are dropped off at 4 or 5 spots along I-95....Laurel Rest Stop, Delaware House...Hilton Springfield, Fredericksburg. We cannot post links but look at MDDCVA WPPC and then transportation. This is the BEST deal going.

So, if you get a 3 day weekend and take a pass you can go home.

Aside from Thanksgiving, winter, spring, and summer breaks, your only opportunity to go home for any year would be on pass. Plebes only get walking privs which is a 5 mile radius. Upperclassmen get OPPs which is a 75 mile radius. Plebes get 1 pass per semester, yuks get 2, and cows get 3. And you may be able to earn additional "performance passes". Firsties get unlimited passes. Taking pass means you can go anywhere you want (assuming it gets approved) and spend the weekend away from west point as long as you're back by recall formation. As long as you're in good standing (good grades, no disciplinary issues, etc.) you'll be able to take pass home to Maryland
