What kind of shaving cream and razor do plebes and midshipmen use on site. My son uses an electric razor currently.

When I was there you only had to use a straight razor during indoc. I used an electric razor for the rest of my time there. It saves a ton of time and my face doesn’t break out.

No idea what is issued but once Plebe Summer is over they can use whatever they want. Mid store has a variety and is convenient but plenty use electric razors or higher end brands they have shipped in.

Yep my plebe had me mail his electric, after plebe summer, and his older mid brother also uses electric.

Whatever ‘ya want to use!

Bear in mind mid store may be low in stock in many items due to current demand and closed yard.

That can't be right. I use a straight razor, and I don't know ANYONE other than me who uses one these days.

I'm guessing their use of "straight razor" refers to anyone of a variety of razor blades , not the traditional straight razor. I've never used one myself, but my barber still does.

I'm an electric guy myself - I switched over back in my Navy days, when I used to have to get up at 0'dark thirty for flights, and didn't trust myself with sharp objects before my coffee,

I'm old and the hair I have left is mostly grey. I shave my face and head with Harry's razors. They are the best that I've found. Shaving cream isn't that different from brand to brand but Shave Secret is a game changer. A few drops of the oil and it's the best shave ever.

For Plebe Summer they get issued those disposable gillette safety razors and couple cans of shave gel. Not sure if they’re allowed to have an electric razor during Plebe Summer, though as a detailer I wouldn’t have cared (would have no way of knowing anyway, if he kept it locked away 🤷‍♂️.) To be safe, I would make sure to learn how to properly shave with a safety razor before I-Day. Once the ac year hits he can use whatever he wants.

Every gentleman should know how to use a straight razor. I use electric on a daily basis but if I'm in the shower I use a safety razor. These days I go old school and just use a small bar of soap for shave cream although I may give that Shave Secret a try given the rave review above.

Speaking of shaving cream ...Edge gel is safer to leave laying around, particularly during Army week. I've heard ( ;)) that the lighter foamy shaving creams make a mess when suspended from a string in the middle of a room, with a thumb tack in the side , and triggering string tied to the door (i.e. open door pulls the tack, and the punctured can spins around spraying the shaving cream ...

Ah to be young again !

What brand razor
What brand shaving cream?

That’s what those high STEM grades and standardized test scores are really required for.
