What should or shouldn't I bring to West Point on Acceptance Day? (Opinion)

Hello everyone!
My name is **REMOVED**, and I am lucky enough to have been offered an appointment to West Point! I would like the opinion of current/past cadets on something: What are some things you wish you had brought with you on A-day, and what are some things you think I shouldn't bring? I know I will be given a list of things to pack if I accept the appointment, but what info would you add/subtract from that list?
Thank you!

Think about what you want to have with you at West Point but won't need during Beast. I would definitely bring your phone on R-Day so you can have it the night of March Back.

The general guidance is to bring everything that is on the list and nothing in addition to what is on the list (USMA has fine-tuned this list over their history of training cadets). You really don't want the plebe that is used as an example on R-Day as not being able to follow simple directions.

Please, Please, please remove your name and change your handle!! And for everyone else, do not post any personal information!!!

Youth is soooo wasted on the young!!

+1 Tug boat

You will have cadre (upper class cadets) at Beast who will derive great joy in finding your social media postings and using the material to make your life "less happy."

I would truly think twice about what you post online that includes personal
identifiable information.

First bit of advice - this is an anonymous Internet forum to protect your privacy. Look around - no real names. Suggest you edit this post or if too late, ask a mod to help.

:bump8ls: Congrats young man! Soon you will be made aware of the text chat groups for your class of 2023. Join and embrace the group think that takes place. you will get many questions answered there and in these forums. It is early yet. Enjoy your senior year.

And remove your name. Your Cadre will find you.....

Bring a bag you can carry. Rollie suitcases will be carried along with the issued green duffle so pack lightish. Lots and lots of boot socks and undies will make your life more comfortable. Lemon/eucalyptus bug spray keeps the bugs away at Buckner. Stamped envelopes to send lots of letters preferably to your beloved parents are super important too!

Congrats! [emoji93]

If you take nothing else make sure you have lots of boot socks, at least 10 pair.. You will need them, taking care of your feet is one of the most important things you can do during Beast.. Pack all of your belongings in extra, extra large zip lock bags and as stated above bring a bag you can easily carry as you will be carrying it all day in addition to all the gear you will be issued.. This isn't Annapolis where you get the cute little wheeled cart to push around....

At one time — a long time ago — this comment was cheeky, charming, humorous...and original. Now, after being told a few hundred thousand times, it’s become a tired trope from folks who clearly struggle to have something novel to say. Sigh.

Nah...still funny!

To quote from one of the greatest Army movies of all time...Lighten up Francis

So many things to celebrate on this page...no need to get heavy on someone offering a bit of advice and some light humor.

And to the OP. Congrats...one of the best things you can bring with you is a healthy attitude. A bit of seriousness...a mindset of continuous improvement and learning...a sense of humor....a 'dont sweat the small stuff' outlook...always keeping focused on the bigger picture...both confidence and humility....knowing you are part of something bigger...understanding there will be those around you willing to help and those around you who need help...and a continued mindset of service.

Other than that you will get a list so follow that and the rest will be cream cheese.

In the meantime enjoy your senior year... youve earned it. Spend quality time with family and friends. Thank those who have helped you get to where you are today. Go to movies...eat your favorite foods...laugh a lot! Dont take these last few months for granted or stress about beast. You will be fine!

Peace and love! Lol!

As they say in the movies: 'Hey kid, get off my lawn!'
This will never get old. Not on the USMA thread.
HOOAH! Go Army! Beat Navy!
No Wheelie Suitcases! Carry that load!

However, for the OP. I see that he still has his full name in the first post of this thread. Please, write to one of the kind moderators to change the post--remove your name.
Also, you will get a list of what to bring on R-Day (and you will pack everything in ziplock bags in a black duffle bag w/ shoulder strap or back pack/rucksack.)
On A-Day, you will go shopping for school supplies and cleaning supplies for your room. You don't really need much else--maybe winter clothes for the trip home at Thanksgiving (#1 Son hopped off the bus in the same shorts and t-shirt he had worn on R-Day--Parenting Fail.)
Congratulations OP. GO ARMY!

You will want your phone and charger powered down and in a ziplock - it will be taken and held until A-day. Not essential but you will be glad to have it then.

Extra fox river socks and dry fit underwear. Very little weight and a life saver.

I’be heard fox river socks are good.

Are those available at clothing sales?
