What song/album/artist are you listening to?

Listening to my Lucy Thomas playlist - just added this, just out. What a voice, and still so young. Range, pitch, control and power like Whitney and Celine, but still her own recognizable tone. Working on gathering tax docs. Needed something uplifting.

Saw Springsteen last night so I'm wallowing in his back catalog. My God was Born to Run an excellent album, but I just learned it peaked at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 and the highest ranked track was Born to Run at #23. I guess Elton John was better than I remember?

I am an electric guitar player-love to listen and play Satriani’s and Polyphia’s.
And like what I replied to QA1517-KWS, Lang, Trucks and of course Joe Bonamassa!

Just rewatched Heat a couple of weeks before and ever since I'm listening to this instrumental at least a single time before my sleep.

Getting ready to row to Two Steps From Hell playlist. Queuing up this one right now to warm up. Serious work kicks off around 1:13.

I’m listening to the new release by Lucy Thomas, whom I’ve mentioned before, with her clear voice, great tone, pitch and control. She’s singing with her mother and sister in this one. Astonishing talent pool.

DD has been a Swfit fan for a decade or more. And I remember her talent show contest in 5th grade was to a Paramour song. CD’s I bought for her as gifts.

She and her BF concert pal worked hard to land two tickets to opening night of the Eras tour in Glendale, AZ, renamed Swift City for the weekend. The AZ highway signs were awesome, “if you get cut off, don’t be mad, Shake it Off”. All of them were Swift lyric inspired. Genius.

Opening night this star did 44 songs. Not kidding. Her opening acts per DS were incredible. Not once in my lifetime have I seen a live artist do more than 18 songs. A set list of 44 is beyond imagination.

The entire production was musical theatre and drama at its best. The videos I have seen are amazing.

Her pandemic albums, Evermore and Folklore didn’t lend themselves to concert material in my mind. But they are my favorite. I am so impressed with them and listen to them while I work.

DD was stunned to have more than five of each album performed. She videoed the song ‘Marjorie’ which is about Taylor’s grandmother. I have never been able to listen to it without bawling. When my DD sent me the live video, she was crying, I was a hot mess. And her bestie was videoing her mom, my bestie. It was an emotional cry fest. In the best way.

I never would have imagined such a personal and sad song in a concert with 72,000 people. But she did it. Because it mattered and does impact listeners.

With my mom in Hospice memory care, ‘Marjorie’ hits home. And my DD knowing it’s impact and sharing it with me live was beautiful.

DD and her bestie attended night two. 44 songs were performed, again. Quite the performance. Well done, TS. When an artist gives her audience what they want, and speaks to them during the performance as individuals, it matters. Class act.

Inspired by threads on many other forums, this thread is pretty self-explanatory- what song, album, or artist have you been listening to lately?

I'll start- I'm listening to Zach Bryan's album Quiet, Heavy Dreams. It's short, only 20 minutes, but it's a very nice album IMO.

NPR during morning commute.
Real crime podcasts during the day.
Sports talk radio, until I can't handle the incessant yelling.
Classical for the relaxation.

40 years ago it was a constant stream of The Doors, Van Halen, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, AC-DC, Boston, BRUCE, Judas Priest, Guns & Roses, Jackson Browne, the Stones, Blue Oyster Cult, Def Leppard, ZZ Top, Bad Company, Billy Idol, Billy Joel, Bob Seger, Tin Lizzy, Nazareth, Ozzy Osbourne, Kansas, ELO, Jerry Rafferty, The Cars, Foghat, Styx, U2 (when they were Irish), KISS, Quiet Riot, Triumph, Aldo Nova, etc.

When my friends weren't around, KC & the Sunshine Band & the Bee Gees.

With my then-girlfried in the car, I'd be cool and put cassette tapes of Journey and ABBA, in the strategic expectation of, well, you know........

P.S. Best part of being a parent? When the kids turn 12 pr 13 and discover the Beatles & you get to listen their songs all over again.

Listened to world beat/vintage Enigma at the gym tonight - this version of “Rivers of Belief” in bass-boosted 8D just puts me in the zone for weight work.

You must listen to this with earbuds or headphones, your best ones.

It’s…different.

My all time favorite band is Gorillaz, they are just so versatile and both members of the band have so much talent, dedication, and interest in their craft.

The new "Cracker Island" album is great. There are some really nice songs to listen to while driving.

My son found Zach Bryan on you tube before he was a thing. His senior year in high school he sang “Dress Blues”, which Zach Bryan covered- while playing acoustic guitar. He told the audience that the original lyrics were about a real fallen US soldier. To say that there wasn’t a dry eye in the house is an understatement.

Fast forward, ZB is a super star and DS still tries to find time to play as much guitar as possible.

His dream is that USNA will bring in ZB for a concert on the yard. He is a Navy veteran after all.

Psssst, USNA— are you listening?

ZB at USNA would be a dream for much of the brigade, I’m sure. And, he’s just the kind of guy who would do what he could to make it happen. So gracious, humble and talent like I haven’t seen for years. This Country Roads cover gives me chills.

PS Hope your DS’s dream comes true.
