Hello.
One of the 2013 cadets brought their passport as proof of citizenship and it was taken from the cadet and has gone missing.
So I was wondering if it would be ok to send the selective service (draft card) instead as proof of citizenship with the appointee?
Just curious what everyone else is taking?
Thanks

I am pretty sure a draft card is not proof of citizenship.

I think it has to be birth certificate or passport. the passport only works because you have to send a birth certificate in to get a passport.

We have a couple copies of our son's birth certificate so he's bringing that rather than his brand new passport which I'd prefer they not lose (also heard those stories). We'll probably have him bring it back with him at Thanksgiving - sure he won't need it before then. If they lose the birth certificate, that's a whole lot easier (and cheaper) for me to replace without him around.

Bringing a passport as proof of citizenship is a good idea. No one will take your passport away from you. During inprocessing they will see it for just a minute and hand it right back to you. If a passport was lost, it can be guaranteed that it was the basic's fault, not that of the cadre.
