So, I've got my exam scheduled for Monday, and my optometrist exam scheduled for Thursday.

What should I expect at each exam?

Bring your printed medical questionnaire with you. Our son's was a pretty routine physical, hearing test etc. Eye doctor exam was routine. Nothing out of the ordinary, other than a minor bit of the physical exam that was awkward with inspection of the ahem, groin area. Not sure he was prepared for that part lol.

Men never become prepared later in life either!

DS, though he did pass, said the hearing test was really hard....Maybe he just listens to his music too loudly...😁

My physical literally lasted five minutes. The doctor did a full-body exam and made me walk on my tiptoes and stuff like that to check mobility. The hearing was kind of hard, but I passed. Eyes again was like 5 minutes. Just a standard I exam. Don't sweat it.

Updated question: Do I have to remove my contacts for 2 days before my Medical exam? Or just my optometrist exam? Just my optometrist exam right?

I know it sounds dumb but I don't wanna mess anything up lol.

I thought I failed my hearing test back in July... somehow I passed. Either the standards are lower than I thought or I somehow did well. Definitely the hardest part.

@Jarhead713 the question about contacts should be answered in your medical questionnaire or on DoDMETS. I believe I only removed mine for a few days before the eye exam though... it was interesting to go to football for a few days straight not being able to see very well. Haha!

Just your eye exam - and it is 3 days before, not 2.

My DD had a cup of coffee this morning and is having her exam this afternoon. Should she reschedule it?

Last I heard, the urine test is no longer administered at the exam, so I would not worry about it.

If you are concerned, have your DD call the examiners office.

What about exercise? She worked out on Monday. She didn't read the instructions till today. Does that have to do with the urine test as well?

@ARFamily
You just heard it from the Deputy Director of DoDMERB. NO lab test at the exam!

(years ago they used to conduct the urine test and exercise caused problems....does not apply today).
