What to wear to a fitness assessment?

This upcoming weekend I have a Physical assessment for my MOC's nomination. It includes an obstacle course, push-ups, sit-ups, and a 1-mile run. It is easy for me to decide what to wear to the interview (since I'm in JROTC), however, I am a little hesitant about what to wear to this event. Are leggings considered inappropriate? (I am a female) I was planning on wearing leggings and a t-shirt but maybe shorts are better? I want to present myself as professionally as possible so any insight is greatly appreciated! Additionally, I've seen many different opinions on wearing a JROTC uniform (for the interview) so some insight on that would be great too.

I have read the comments about the jrotc uniform over the years and I would not wear one. Something rang true to me that someone (I believe a respected old timer) recently posted - many times the uniforms aren’t properly fitted or pressed etc.

For the assessment - I would wear something that is appropriate and meets the standards of the high school dress code.

I’d go with shorts over leggings. But I am an old conservative father whose daughter played volleyball in high school.

I normally advise against wearing a JROTC uniform to the interview since they are often second hand and not in tiptop shape. If you were to wear a uniform it has to be PERFECT as many/most of the folks who do interviews are former military and know what a uniform is supposed to look like. Believe me, the interviewers will know that you're in JROTC whether you wear a uniform or not.
I recommend a dress or equivalent. If you insist on wearing a uniform, it MUST be freshly cleaned and pressed. The uniform must also fit properly with pants hammed appropriately, shoes shined, etc. All ribbons CLEAN and not frayed, all insignia clean and placed/aligned exactly as it is supposed to be. Your hair should be within MILITARY (not JROTC) regs as the interviewers are less likely to know JROTC regs than military regs.

Hey I'm in JROTC too and I'm female and a runner! Here's my two cents

First what's the weather? Looks like you'll be doing alot of sweating. If the weather is in 60's- 50's no wind then I recommend short, t-shirt and a light weight jacket. It's colder or had a decent wind (over 7 or 10) I recommend long sleeve with a jacket and shorts. You'll find your legs don't get cold very easily or at least you don't feel them. However keeping your chest and arms warm is huge when it comes to running as it can both be distracting and it will hurt your times.

If you're still unsure go outside and run a bit. The weather shouldn't change tol much in a week ( or you can wait later in the week to be safe) this will allow you to see what you're comfortable in.

I did not wear my uniform. It is highly recommend that you dont. What I wore was a black blazer from my mom ( we pinned the back) and a white with thin red strips shirt underneath and dress pants. I have light makeup on with small earings. If you can't decide on what to wear look on line first and then go to thirft store to find it.

Just to clarify... your MOC is having all candidates, regardless of SA preference, attend a physical assessment that is not the CFA? This is the first time I have heard of a MOC doing this.

And yes, I would error on the side of conservative for dress for this assessment. Anything you can do to make yourself stand out is a good thing. So clean clothes, that fit (not super baggy or tight), shirt tucked in, hair in a neat pony tail or bun.

Thank you for your reply! I am very confident that my uniform is perfect. In my opinion, I think my uniform is quite impressive (i have many ribbons, arcs, and medals, I'm also the Battalion Commander). I am more worried about looking like a "tryhard". If worn perfectly do you believe I should wear it?

Very hard to say. As previously stated, we know that you're in JROTC and as Batt CDR, I'm sure that your leadership position is already known to the panel. That said, if you don't have appropriate civilian stuff or if you REALLY feel that you must wear the uniform then go for it.
