Nominations: four congressional nomimations from NJ, which is a competitive state. I applied to all five service academies as I knew I wanted to serve my country, but I didn't know what branch. After visiting Annapolis for a CVW and going through the processes, USNA became the dream. I'm turning down a USMMA appointment for a NROTC scholarship in hopes to reapply. I did not want to take away from someone else's dream of attending USMMA if I was not going to give it my full attention.
Medical: Received a waiver for eye correction.

Wow..impressive record. Each year I am amazed by the quality of applicants that don't get in. You are clearly qualified, it really comes down to being the most qualified in your application pool. Bottom line, go to Plan B, excel academically and in NROTC. NROTC can give you another Nom source. When it comes down to personal statement and BGO interview, don't just rehash what you did in high school --- show what you have learned in your first year of college. They key is demonstrating to Admissions that you have the ability to excel in a difficult college curriculum.

Awesome record! That's a whole lot of very hard work getting all those accomplishments at a young age, Bravo Zulu! You'll get in. It is the SA's loss if they don't offer you an appointment and join the SA that you have your heart set on.

Agreed with the commenters above. Many of the best midshipmen I know and work with didn't get in here on their first try, including the fall brigade commander. Keep adding to your record and give it your best shot on the next round.

Your stats do look good and agree with @Old Navy BGO that you are qualified. With everything listed, I would reach out to your admission's counselor later in the summer and ask what you could improve on. The awards and job experience list is impressive, but there are only so many points available for those things.

You mentioned 4 nominations from NJ. Did you mean that you got a nomination from your local MOC to all four academies? Unless someone has two openings this year, you can only get three nominations to an academy in the same year, one from your congressman and one from each senator.

You nomination slate is really how you get an offer. If you only have one nomination, then you only get to compete against those individuals for that one spot. While there are the offers from the NWL, those are much tougher to get.

Also keep in mind just like Old Navy BGO said, ROTC offers another nomination and appointment source. Doing well in a semester of college will also increase your WCS and that can only help.

I reached out to my admissions counselor recently, but I wanted more opinions to be safe. I recieved a nomination to all four service academies from just my congressman, totaling 4 nominations. My congressman does not use the principal nom system and allows the academy to decide. Consequently, the academy chose another candidate and theywere going to give me the appointment had the other candidate not accepted it. I am friends with 2 2/C MIDN from my highschool so thankfully two spots will be opening up for the class of 2022.

So when I look at everything you posted your sports activities and SAT scores are a little below the averages. Increasing your sports will be hard in college but taking a SAT prep class is doable. You were close this year. Just do well in college and you will have a good shot next year. It took my DD two tries to get in.

Since you only had one nomination you only really had one chance. ROTC will give you the opportunity to compete on a different slate. They take around 20 for ROTC.
