On DS West Point application, the Nomination section is checked green and has changed in the last week or two, it now says he has a Nomination:

Nominations Received
Code ------ Date Posted
RSCOM ----- Jul 17, 2009

He's at USMAPS now-he talked to his 'last years nom MOC' about what to do this year (last June) and his next needed Nom for this year. He hasn't sent in his paperwork yet, is this the Nom Prepsters can get from the Army, and why is it showing up now? BTW, July 17th was R day at USMAPS.

I looked into this a little more and his Nominations contact page, states his Class of 2014 Nominations as the one above also.

maximus: if as a marine you have trouble understanding army paperwork you should contact a navy squid they all can read and most have a high level of comprehension I'm sure one would help you out after all we try to help junior Branch's of the navy:shake::yllol::cool:

Well I guess I resemble that lol

Well, what is it?

Sounds like his Nomination from the SEC Army as a Reserve Soldier.

Each year the Academy may appoint 85 Soldiers from the Reserves and 85 Soldiers from Active Duty.
Since each USMAPS CC is a Reserve Soldier they all get one. Don't get too excited, though. He absolutely MUST apply to all of his MOC's for a Nomination as well.
As you can see there are more than 85 Reserve Soldier's at USMAPS!

This is, however, one of the benefits of Prep school. Those on the AOG scholarship who attend a Military Jr College will also receive a Nomination through ROTC.

That is what I thought it was as we were all briefed about this, and the importance of applying to all Nominating sources again this year.
I'm surprised it's showing up on his application page as an 'awarded 2014 Nomination'. I guess they can take them away, or shuffle them.

DS last years MOC Nomination source has assured DS he will receive his Nomination again; obviously it was implied that he has to apply and do well, with the same forms as last year, but don't worry about essays and the interview appointment, they'll obviously do that over the phone. He also stated that he wants his evals from the Prep School. This is the same Liaison Officer that called us last year after his interview, to ask DS if he would be willing to do an extra year at Prep-DS took the offer enthusiastically, and we've kept in contact.

If he gets a nomination from one or more MOC's it won't go away. he will keep it.

What you describe sounds pretty normal to me. For prepsters most MOC's won't make them repeat the whole application. Just new recommendations and transcripts.
When the academy makes the appointment and fills the class they will use one of the nominations. You won't know which and it doesn't really matter.

Thanks for the reply JAM and BTW, sorry about the punctuation and grammar, I didn't really edit that post and now that I look at it, I'm embarrassed  That's how I respond with a sandwich in one hand and a keyboard in the other...lol
